Pretoria, South Africa – April 15, 2024: Nick Cassidy clinched his fourth podium finish of the season at the recent Formula E race in Misano, Italy, securing third place in a thrilling finish against Nico Müller of Abt Cupra. The event took place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, marking another successful outing for Jaguar TCS Racing.
During qualifying, Cassidy excelled in Group A, advancing to the Duels after leading his group’s timings. Although a track limit violation in the quarter-final initially set him back to eighth on the grid, Cassidy’s strategic prowess shone through during the race. He quickly advanced to lead the pack by the sixth lap but later adjusted his strategy to conserve energy, which paid off in the final laps. His tactical use of the car’s energy reserve allowed him to overtake Maximilian Günther and edge out Müller by just 0.05 seconds for the podium finish.
Conversely, Mitch Evans faced difficulties from the start. After failing to advance beyond the initial qualifying rounds, he started from 15th position. Despite a promising strategy that saw him climb to 11th with a significant energy advantage, a technical glitch with his Jaguar I-TYPE 6 forced him to stop and ultimately retire on the last lap.

Despite Evans’ setbacks, Jaguar TCS Racing remains at the forefront of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship after this double-header weekend in Misano. Cassidy’s podium finish has propelled him to fourth in the Drivers’ World Championship standings, with Evans holding steady in sixth.
James Barclay, Team Principal of Jaguar TCS Racing, praised the race’s technical challenges and strategic depth. “Securing another podium in such a competitive field underscores our team’s capabilities and strategic planning,” Barclay remarked. He also expressed disappointment over the technical issues on Evans’ car but remained optimistic about the upcoming race in Monaco.
Looking ahead, the team is focused on the eighth round of the championship, which will take place on April 27, 2024, in Monte Carlo, Monaco—a circuit where Jaguar has historically performed well. Cassidy and Evans are both looking forward to competing in the prestigious setting, aiming to maintain their team’s championship lead and secure further success.
As the team prepares for Monaco, Cassidy reflects on his performance with satisfaction, “It’s been a challenging season, but returning to the podium feels great, especially after such a closely contested race.” Meanwhile, Evans is hopeful for a turnaround at his home race in Monaco, focusing on overcoming the recent challenges and finishing strong.
This blend of strategic mastery and resilient overcoming of challenges keeps Jaguar TCS Racing at the pinnacle of Formula E racing as they continue to contend for top honors in this electrifying motorsport series.
