Pretoria, South Africa, 04 December 2025 – Jaguar TCS Racing returns to the streets of São Paulo this Saturday as the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship roars into life, marking a landmark tenth season for the British outfit and a fresh era under new leadership and new talent.
The São Paulo E-Prix will see Ian James take up his post on the pit wall for the first time as Team Principal, while António Félix da Costa makes his competitive debut in Jaguar colours as the team’s new #13 driver. Alongside them, stalwart Mitch Evans lines up for his 127th Formula E start – all with Jaguar – as he enters a record tenth consecutive season with the team.
A Decade of Electrified Performance
Since joining Formula E in 2016, Jaguar TCS Racing has shaped its identity around technical innovation and race-winning consistency. Across nine seasons, the team has amassed 22 victories, 31 additional podium finishes and 1 638 points, culminating in a dominant 2024 campaign that secured both the Teams’ World Championship and the inaugural Manufacturers’ Trophy.
Their current race car, the Jaguar I-TYPE 7, enters its second year in the GEN3 Evo homologation cycle as the most successful machine of last season. With six victories – five captured in the final six rounds – the team surged to the top of the win tally in 2024/25, setting a formidable benchmark heading into the new championship.
Crucially, the hardware and software honed in competition will continue to guide Jaguar’s future product strategy. The team’s development breakthroughs feed directly into the brand’s next generation of all-electric road cars, previewed earlier this year by the striking Jaguar Type 00.
A Circuit of Triumphs
Few venues have been as emotionally charged for Jaguar TCS Racing as São Paulo’s Anhembi Sambadrome. The team delivered a double podium there last season, and Evans etched his name into Formula E history by storming from last on the grid to victory – the first time such a feat had ever been achieved in the championship.
Evans has never finished off the podium in Brazil. With two wins from three races in São Paulo, the New Zealander returns to familiar territory with confidence and a burgeoning legacy.
“It’s exciting to head to Brazil for the first race of the new Formula E season,” said Evans. “Coming through from 22nd on the grid to take the win was a record-breaking moment in my career I will never forget. The Brazilian crowd is incredible. Their passion and energy bring an amazing atmosphere, and that makes racing here even more exciting.”
For da Costa, the race represents both a debut and a reunion with a circuit that treated him well last season.
“I am really looking forward to my first race with Jaguar TCS Racing,” he said. “We have worked extremely hard in the off-season to ensure we are fully prepared. I finished on the podium here last year and it would be great to achieve another strong result on my debut with the team.”
New Leadership, Renewed Ambition
With a decade of progress behind them and a fiercely competitive grid ahead, Jaguar TCS Racing enters Season 12 with determination sharpened by momentum.
“Everyone at Jaguar TCS Racing is hugely motivated ahead of the first round,” said Team Principal Ian James. “It promises to be another closely fought campaign, and our aim is to get out of the blocks quickly and secure a good result in São Paulo.
“Mitch has always performed well in Brazil and that should give him a lot of confidence, while we are excited for António’s debut and know he will be pushing hard for a strong start to his Jaguar career.”
The first round of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship gets underway at 14:05 Brasília Standard Time (GMT–3) on Saturday, 6 December – a fitting stage for Jaguar TCS Racing to begin its next electrifying chapter.
