Pretoria, South Africa – April 2, 2024: In the milestone 100th race for Jaguar TCS Racing at the Tokyo E-Prix, Nick Cassidy showcased strategic prowess, advancing from 19th to an impressive 8th place, securing crucial points. Mitch Evans, marking his and the team’s centennial race in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, encountered difficulties, finishing 15th after a demanding day on the track.
During qualifying, both Jaguar drivers were grouped in Group A, with Cassidy advancing to the Duels. However, a technical violation led to the annulment of his quickest lap, relegating him to start 19th. Evans narrowly missed the top four, ending up in fifth, which became bittersweet as his advancement caused Cassidy’s exclusion.
Evans faced a setback in the Qualifying Duels, receiving a penalty for impeding, which dropped him to ninth for the start. Despite these challenges, Cassidy executed a commendable race from 19th, ultimately benefiting from a disqualification to finish 8th. Evans struggled, especially after a collision necessitated a pit stop, concluding the race in 15th place.

Despite the hurdles in Tokyo, Jaguar TCS Racing continues to lead the Teams’ World Championship, holding a 17-point advantage. Cassidy is now second in the Drivers’ Championship, with Evans in sixth place.
James Barclay, Team Principal, expressed pride in competing in Tokyo and acknowledged the day’s difficulties. He praised Cassidy’s recovery to 8th place as crucial for their championship aspirations but acknowledged the missed opportunities for Evans. Looking ahead, the team is optimistic about the upcoming race in Misano.
Evans reflected on the race’s challenges, noting the difficulty of overtaking on the Tokyo track. He remains hopeful for a stronger performance in Misano. Cassidy praised the team’s effort and the car’s speed, emphasizing their recovery and point finish as a positive takeaway.
