KNYSNA, South Africa, 12 May 2015 – Knysna is just a couple of days away from being transformed from a relaxed holiday haven into South Africa’s high-octane, adrenaline-fuelled motorsport capital for the annual Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, which officially starts on Friday 15 May and runs through to Sunday the 17th.

Hillclimb-Knysna

Competitors from around the country are currently making their final preparations on the dazzling array of road and race cars that have been entered into Classic Car Friday and King of the Hill. Most will, no doubt, be loading up and setting off for one of South Africa’s most beautiful coastal towns for an action-packed weekend, per excellence.

Spectators are due to be served a tantalising automotive feast over the course of the weekend, and the organisers have done an exceptional job of making it as spectacular and spectator-friendly as possible.

For ease of access there are now shuttles operating from Friday to Sunday from the Knysna Waterfront to the Hillclimb, at a cost of R10 per person. Selected parking areas are also available close to the track, but are only recommended for 4×4 vehicles.

Tickets to each day’s action are available at all entrance gates from 07h30, at a cost of R80 for adults and R50 for children between the ages of 3 and 12.

There are a limited number of tickets available for access to the pits, at R100 each – so get there early to be part of the excitement. VIP Le Mans tickets can be purchased at the Welcome Centre on the Knysna Waterfront at a cost of R2 000 per person per day. This exclusive package gives spectators access to the GH Mumm Le Mans Hospitality suite overlooking the start line, and includes all meals with a cash bar.  Pit entry also goes with the package.

Aside from the main attraction of the more than 130 cars being driven in anger up the Simola Hill over the weekend, there will be plenty to keep visitors entertained in Gasoline Alley – including the reveal of the stunning new Jaguar XE (Saturday from 13h00 to 14h00), as well as the Bloodhound Supersonic simulator and display.

The Prestige Car Park will allow fans to get close up and personal with some of their favourite cars, and there’s a Jordan F1 Display with multiple race simulators in case you want to test your ‘virtual’ race skills behind the wheel.

For the most breathtaking views of the Hillclimb, the Simola Golf and Country Estate and Knysna in general, first prize will be a helicopter flip, which will be available throughout the weekend.

And, in order to ensure you have a great camera to capture the Hillclimb next year, three Nikon cameras are up for grabs in the 2015 photographic competition. Simply upload a maximum of five Jaguar Simola Hillclimb photos to the event’s Facebook page (see details below), get your friends to like the post and cross your fingers. The photos with the highest number of likes will count towards the organisers’ determination of the winners.

Add in the lunch-time on-track entertainment, the traditional air displays, a dedicated kids play area with minders, a sumptuous array of food and beverage stalls, trade stalls for great shopping and extended beer gardens, and there’s simply no doubting that there’s only one place to be this weekend – and that’s at the 2015 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb!
