Volkswagen kicks off 2026 with the launch of its highly anticipated second-generation T-Roc, now available to order in the UK from 8 January. With prices starting at £31,620 (OTR, inc. VAT), the T-Roc builds on the success of its predecessor, combining a striking new design, advanced technology, and expanded cabin space to cement its position as one of Volkswagen’s most popular SUVs.
Since its debut in 2017, the T-Roc has sold more than two million units globally, making it Volkswagen’s second-best-selling SUV after the Tiguan and earning numerous industry awards. The new generation, offered in Life, Style, and R-Line trims, elevates the T-Roc with a more dynamic silhouette, premium interior, and a suite of assist systems previously reserved for higher-class vehicles. A full hybrid powertrain is also set to join the lineup later this year.
Expressive Exterior
The refreshed T-Roc retains the model’s iconic coupé-like rear and ‘hockey stick’ C-pillar but grows 12.2 cm in length and nine millimetres wider and taller than the previous generation. New alloy wheel options up to 20 inches—a first for the T-Roc—pair with bold colour choices such as Canary Yellow, Flamed Red, and Celestial Blue, projecting a confident, sporty presence.
Lighting upgrades include standard LED headlights and light-projecting mirror housings, with IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights available as an option. A signature LED strip connects the front Volkswagen logo, while the rear features a continuous LED crossbar framing the illuminated VW emblem.
Lounge-Like Interior
Inside, the T-Roc’s cabin blends modern comfort with high-end design. A newly developed dashboard upholstery and ambient lighting create a lounge-like atmosphere, while premium soft-touch surfaces enhance the overall sense of quality. Technology features include a 12.9-inch infotainment display, optional windscreen head-up display, and innovative door handles.
Borrowing features from the larger Tiguan and Tayron, the T-Roc offers driving experience control for customised driving profiles and infotainment volume adjustments. Other highlights include wireless phone charging, a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro (from Style trims upwards), massage seats (Style trim), and a generous 475-litre boot—30 litres more than before.
Powertrain and Advanced Features
At launch, the T-Roc offers two 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid turbo petrol engines with outputs of 116 PS and 150 PS. All models are front-wheel drive and paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Future full-hybrid variants promise improved efficiency and versatility.
Built on Volkswagen’s MQB Evo platform, the T-Roc incorporates advanced systems such as Travel Assist for automatic lane changes, Park Assist Pro with memory function for automated parking, and an exit warning system that alerts passengers to approaching vehicles or cyclists.
Options and Pricing
Volkswagen offers tailored option packages to simplify the purchase experience while keeping prices competitive. UK orders open from 8 January, with the range spanning £31,620 for the T-Roc Life 1.5 eTSI 116 PS to £38,920 for the R-Line 1.5 eTSI 150 PS (OTR, inc. VAT). Test drives can be booked via Volkswagen.co.uk.
Volkswagen remains the UK’s best-selling new-car brand for the fourth consecutive year, delivering 166,304 new vehicles in 2024 with an 8.52 per cent market share. Globally, Volkswagen produced 4.8 million vehicles last year, including 383,000 all-electric models, as the brand continues to pursue sustainable mobility through its ACCELERATE strategy.
