PEUGEOT South Africa has officially introduced the new PEUGEOT Partner to the local market, strengthening its position in the light commercial vehicle space with a compact van aimed squarely at the demands of modern urban business operations.
Designed for entrepreneurs, SMEs, courier services and delivery fleets, the new Partner arrives at a time when efficiency, cost control and operational flexibility are becoming central to how businesses move goods through increasingly dense city environments. It reflects a broader shift in the segment toward practical, no-nonsense mobility solutions that still integrate modern technology and comfort.
According to Moeketsi Mapogo, Brand Head: Pro One LCV at Stellantis South Africa, the model represents a key step in the brand’s growth in the local LCV market. He highlighted that businesses are being forced to “do more with less,” making affordability, reliability and low running costs essential attributes. The Partner, he noted, has been engineered to meet those pressures head-on with a focus on everyday usability.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre HDi diesel engine producing 68 kW and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The setup prioritises low-end pulling strength, making it well suited to stop-start delivery cycles and frequent urban loading routines. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.1 L/100 km, reinforcing its appeal to operators who manage tight cost-per-kilometre margins.
Practicality is a core strength of the new model, with two body styles offered locally. The SWB (Short Wheelbase) variant makes its South African debut, providing a load length of 1 817 mm. The LWB (Long Wheelbase) version extends that to 2 167 mm and enables up to 4.4 m³ of load volume when fitted with the Multiflex bench seat arrangement. In LWB form, payload capacity reaches up to 1 000 kg, making it suitable for heavier commercial duties.
Access has been designed with urban efficiency in mind, with dual sliding side doors and 180-degree rear doors improving usability in tight loading bays and congested streets. These features support faster turnaround times, which are critical for courier and last-mile delivery operations.
Inside, the cabin functions as a mobile workspace, anchored by a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system. Connectivity includes WiFi mirroring, Bluetooth, AM/FM/DAB radio, dual USB ports and steering wheel-mounted controls, supporting both productivity and driver convenience.
Comfort and usability features include manual air conditioning, electrically operated front windows with one-touch function, an electric parking brake, adjustable seating and overhead storage, helping to reduce fatigue during long shifts.
Safety equipment is comprehensive for the segment, including Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), cruise control with speed limiter, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and dual airbags. Automatic dusk-sensing headlights and rain-sensing wipers add further support in changing driving conditions.
Compact dimensions make the Partner highly manoeuvrable in dense urban traffic, while its efficiency and payload capability position it as a strong contender for high-utilisation commercial fleets operating in South Africa’s city centres.
Pricing starts at R479 900 for the SWB model and R508 900 for the LWB variant. Both derivatives are backed by a 3-year / 60 000 km service plan and a 3-year / 100 000 km warranty.
