Modena, November 20 — A celebration of heritage, creativity, and automotive artistry takes centre stage this weekend as the 15th edition of Milano AutoClassica opens its doors at Fiera Milano (Rho). Running from Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, the celebrated exhibition welcomes collectors, enthusiasts, and industry professionals to explore a curated showcase of classic icons and visionary special projects. Among the star attractions stands a singular expression of Maserati’s bespoke excellence: the MC20 Cielo “Opera d’Arte”.
Born in 2024 through the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program, this unique creation embodies the highest expression of the Trident’s personalisation capabilities. Inspired by the pioneering language of Abstract Art, the car is not simply a one-off—it is a rolling canvas, a sculptural form translated into speed, emotion, and contemporary craftsmanship. Presented near the Aci Storico stand, it will headline the talk “Art Car: when design meets the automobile” at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 21.
An Evolved Vision of the MC20 Lineage
The MC20 Cielo “Opera d’Arte” is rooted in the spirit of Maserati’s acclaimed MC20 super sports car range. Following the MC20 Halo Car, the model recently evolved with the arrival of the MCPURA—a more exclusive and performance-focused reinterpretation unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last July. Available in both coupé and convertible form (the latter bearing the “Cielo” designation), the MCPURA defines the future of Trident performance.
The “Opera d’Arte” sits at the apex of this evolution. It is the forerunner to the upcoming MCPURA Cielo, yet stands entirely alone: a singular intersection of engineering purity and artistic rebellion.
Where Creativity Becomes Performance
To create the MC20 Cielo “Opera d’Arte,” Maserati Fuoriserie, Maserati Centro Stile, and Maserati Engineering embarked on a year-long collaborative process—a journey of experimentation that pushed the boundaries of the Fuoriserie programme itself. The result is a spyder transformed into a dynamic work of contemporary art.
Entirely hand-painted, the car features a palette of 15 bespoke colours, ranging from acid yellow to vivid electric green and warm, expressive orange. These tones were formulated to provoke emotion, shifting subtly across curves and edges, enhancing both the sculpture of the bodywork and the visual rhythm of the car.
Every brushstroke and contour reflects thousands of hours of craftsmanship. The Art Car ethos continues into the cabin, where advanced laser-engraved Alcantara, exposed carbon-fibre elements, and finely balanced textures and tones immerse occupants in a tactile, multisensory experience.
Hand-painted sections on the lower dashboard pair with rich leather inserts above, creating the impression of stepping inside a bespoke atelier. Even the wheels receive dedicated graphic detailing—colour combinations that amplify impact and deepen the interplay of art and performance.
A Sister Creation: The MC20 “Less is More…?”
The same creative spirit that shaped the “Opera d’Arte” also inspired the remarkable MC20 “Less is More…?”—another Fuoriserie one-off rooted in Bauhaus principles. Its minimalist visual language, distilled geometry, and intentional restraint stand in contrast to the expressive flair of the “Opera d’Arte”, yet both share the same dedication to artisanal precision and conceptual integrity.
Each project was meticulously crafted within the newly renovated Officine Maserati at the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena, reaffirming Maserati’s legacy as a custodian of Italian design and innovation.
BOTTEGAFUORISERIE: A New Chapter in Italian Personalisation
The debut of the MC20 Cielo “Opera d’Arte” coincides with a landmark announcement: the expansion of Maserati’s Fuoriserie universe into BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, a collaborative creative hub uniting the personalisation worlds of Alfa Romeo and Maserati.
This initiative symbolises a new era for Italy’s extended Motor Valley—encompassing the regions of Piedmont, Lombardy, and Emilia-Romagna. Stretching from Modena to Turin and Arese, it represents a cultural and technological corridor where the country’s most iconic vehicles are imagined, shaped, and perfected.
Within BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, bespoke automobiles, historically faithful restorations, research into innovative materials, sensory experiences, and advanced performance development converge. It is here that Italy’s next generation of dream cars will take form, including future evolutions of the MCPURA Cielo lineage.
A Masterpiece for the Present—and a Signal of the Future
The MC20 Cielo “Opera d’Arte” is more than a celebration of Maserati’s artistic heritage. It is a declaration of intent—showcasing how the brand continues to fuse art, design, and engineering into objects of pure emotion.
As it takes its place under the lights of Milano AutoClassica, the car invites visitors to consider the automobile not merely as a technical creation, but as an expressive medium—one capable of capturing imagination, provoking thought, and redefining the limits of personalisation.
In Modena, through Fuoriserie and the new BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, this vision is no longer conceptual. It is hand-built, hand-painted, and very much alive.
