Alpine celebrated its milestone 70th anniversary in spectacular style at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, entertaining a sell-out crowd of around 200,000 motorsport fans with a captivating line-up of high-performance debuts, race-bred engineering, and a stunning podium finish in one of the event’s most hotly contested competitions.
Capping off the brand’s dynamic four-day celebration was the Alpine A110 R Ultime, which secured a remarkable third place in the production class of the prestigious timed shootout. Piloted by the seasoned Laurent Hurgon—a triple Nürburgring lap record holder and long-time Alpine development driver—the R Ultime recorded a blistering 52.01-second run up the iconic hill, placing ninth overall in a field dominated by more powerful machinery.
The A110 R Ultime, powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine producing 345bhp and 420Nm of torque, represents the pinnacle of Alpine’s legendary A110 lineage. Lightweight, agile, and aerodynamically optimised to deliver serious downforce, the car was engineered to be the ultimate expression of Alpine’s road-going performance ethos. Its shootout result underscored its extraordinary capability, precision handling and relentless pace—outperforming competitors far above its weight class.
Adding to the excitement was the world dynamic debut of the Alpine A290 Rallye, a motorsport-honed evolution of the all-electric A290—recently crowned 2025 European Car of the Year. Featuring a robust motorsport makeover including a ZF limited-slip differential, uprated suspension and braking, and a full FIA-spec safety cage, the A290 Rallye is a bold statement of intent from Alpine as it continues to blur the line between road and race. It’s a car with clear competitive ambitions, hinting at its potential future entry into rallying.
Further captivating crowds was the UK dynamic debut of the Alpenglow HY6—Alpine’s radical hydrogen-powered concept. With a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 producing an impressive 740bhp, the Alpenglow reimagines what a sustainable sports car can be. Beyond its striking design and performance credentials, the concept embodies Alpine’s long-term commitment to zero-emissions innovation without sacrificing dynamic purity.

Also making its first UK appearance on the hill was the Alpine A390, the marque’s forthcoming electric sports fastback. With a sculpted, aerodynamic silhouette and seating for five, the 100% electric A390 is set to usher in a new era for the brand—offering everyday usability wrapped in Alpine’s signature driver-focused experience. It joined the A290 and A110 on display, reinforcing the breadth and ambition of the current Alpine range.
Of course, no Alpine celebration would be complete without a nod to the brand’s Formula 1 exploits. The BWT Alpine F1 Team thrilled onlookers with daily demonstration runs and paddock appearances, showcasing the brand’s cutting-edge motorsport engineering and performance pedigree at the very highest level of competition.
Nic Burnside, Managing Director of Alpine Cars UK, reflected on the weekend’s success:
