Third episode highlights the transfer of racing DNA to road cars and the brand’s forward-thinking innovation
As Alpine celebrates its 70th anniversary, the French marque continues to reflect on its remarkable journey with the release of the third episode in its documentary series, Alpine 70 Years. Following compelling explorations of the brand’s rich heritage and timeless design in the first two instalments, the latest chapter shifts focus to the heart of Alpine’s ongoing evolution: engineering and innovation.
Titled “From Track to Tarmac”, this episode offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes of Alpine’s engineering facilities, revealing how a legacy born on the racetrack continues to drive technological advancements in its road-going models.
At the core of the episode are insights from four key figures in Alpine’s engineering and racing divisions—Sovany Ang (VP Product Performance Alpine), Robert Bonetto (VP, Alpine Engineering Project), François Champod (Vehicles Director, Alpine Racing), and Olivier Guintrand (VP Engineering, Alpine Cars). Each shares their perspective on how Alpine’s motorsport DNA, established by founder Jean Rédélé in the 1950s, remains the brand’s guiding force even as it pivots toward an electrified future.
“The role of the Alpine Cars engineering team is to develop Alpine’s road cars and the innovative technologies that will guarantee their performance,” explains Robert Bonetto.
This drive for performance and innovation is more than a technical mandate—it’s a cultural tenet that shapes every project. As the brand navigates the complex transition to electrification, the commitment to maintaining the exhilarating driving dynamics that define the Alpine experience remains unwavering.

Sovany Ang echoes this sentiment, underlining the importance of balancing progress with passion:
“At Alpine, we support our engineering and design teams in this relationship with customer expectations. The world is changing, customers are evolving, and new expectations are emerging.”
The episode delves deep into the creative tension between past and future, speed and sustainability, performance and planet. Through Alpine Racing’s Hypertech division—a new high-tech hub channelling motorsport expertise into cutting-edge road car development—this balance is becoming not only possible but profoundly exciting.
“With Alpine Racing Hypertech, we’re creating a high-tech structure, a real showcase for Renault Group and Alpine engineering,” says François Champod.
The synergy between Alpine’s track and road teams is palpable, and the video captures how this collaboration is fuelling a renaissance for the brand. From chassis dynamics to powertrain development, racing insights are being directly applied to ensure Alpine’s next generation of electric sports cars deliver the same visceral thrills that earned the A110 its cult status.
With the third episode of Alpine 70 Years, the brand doesn’t just celebrate its past—it reaffirms its future. A future where engineering excellence, motorsport heritage, and sustainable innovation converge to create a new era of driving pleasure, unmistakably Alpine.
