AMSTERDAM & LUXEMBOURG – October 17, 2025 – Stellantis, one of Europe’s leading automotive manufacturers, and Pony.ai, a global frontrunner in autonomous driving technology, have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the deployment of SAE Level 4 autonomous vehicles across Europe. This collaboration marks a significant step toward hands-off, eyes-off mobility solutions for urban environments.
The partnership will see Pony.ai’s cutting-edge autonomous driving software integrated into Stellantis’ AV-Ready Platform, specifically the battery-electric medium-size vans designed for robotaxi applications. The initial phase will focus on the Peugeot e-Traveller, leveraging Stellantis’ expertise in light commercial vehicles (LCVs) through its Pro One business unit.
Testing in Real-World Conditions
Real-world testing of the autonomous vans will begin in Luxembourg, providing a controlled yet realistic environment to validate safety, performance, and regulatory compliance. The rollout is expected to expand gradually to other European cities starting in 2026.
“Driverless vehicles have the potential to transform the way people move in our cities, offering safer and more affordable options for communities,” said Ned Curic, Stellantis Chief Engineering & Technology Officer. “To bring this vision to life, we’ve built Stellantis’ AV-Ready Platforms and are partnering with the best players in the industry. Pony.ai stands out for their technical expertise and collaborative approach.”
Dr. James Peng, Founder and CEO of Pony.ai, added, “We are delighted to partner with Stellantis to bring our autonomous mobility technology to Europe. Their strong European presence and portfolio of iconic brands make them the ideal partner to help accelerate our growth in this key market.”

A Platform Ready for the Future
Stellantis’ AV-Ready Platform is purpose-built to accommodate SAE Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities. Upgrades include system redundancies, advanced sensor suite compatibility, and seamless integration with autonomous software stacks, ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability for hands-off operation.
By focusing initially on medium-size LCVs, the partnership leverages Stellantis’ leadership in this segment to offer flexible, scalable solutions across diverse European mobility landscapes. The vans’ adaptability, efficiency, and total cost of ownership make them well-suited for applications ranging from compact robotaxis to multi-passenger services carrying up to eight occupants.
Looking Beyond Passenger Transport
While the immediate focus is urban mobility for people, the collaboration lays the foundation for broader autonomous mobility services. This could extend to goods delivery, freight transport, and other commercial applications, positioning Stellantis and Pony.ai as pioneers in Europe’s next generation of mobility solutions.
With regulatory compliance, safety, and performance at the forefront, Stellantis and Pony.ai are charting a course toward a future where autonomous vehicles redefine urban transport, offering smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility across Europe.
