Valencia, 21 September 2025 – Maserati’s GT2 racing programme celebrated a landmark achievement this weekend as Philippe Prette secured his second consecutive Am Class championship crown in the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli. The Monegasque LP Racing driver sealed the 2025 title in emphatic fashion at Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo, delivering a double overall victory that underscored both his personal dominance and the formidable pace of the Maserati GT2.
A Title Sealed with a Saturday Showcase
Prette’s championship defence reached its crescendo in Race 1, where he converted overall pole into a commanding lights-to-flag win. Even a penalty—issued following his double triumph at Misano—could not derail the Maserati driver’s charge. He built an advantage of more than 15 seconds before the mandatory pit stop, absorbed the time penalty with measured precision, and swiftly retook the lead to claim the chequered flag.
Hot on his heels, Dinamic Motorsport’s number 7 Maserati GT2, piloted by the experienced pairing of Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini, finished second overall and captured victory in the Pro-Am category. Starting from the second row, their calculated aggression and late-race overtake on the central straight ensured a well-earned runner-up spot.
Prette’s win meant the Am Class title was mathematically secured with a race to spare—an achievement that also saw him outpace the leading Pro-Am competitors to underline his dominance across the field.
Sunday Drama and a Champion’s Flourish
Race 2 delivered a twist of fortunes for Maserati’s other championship hopefuls. Calamia initially seized the lead from pole position and opened a gap despite an early Safety Car intervention. Yet, light rain created treacherous conditions; the Swiss driver lost grip on the damp asphalt, sliding into the gravel and into the wall, forcing a premature retirement and ending their Pro-Am title aspirations.
While calamity struck his teammates, Prette staged a trademark comeback from fifth on the grid. Undeterred by the wet track, he methodically worked his way through the field, executing a decisive move after a second Safety Car period. Crossing the line with a margin of more than seven seconds, he completed the weekend with a second straight victory—his eighth in class this season—providing a fitting exclamation point to his championship campaign.

Maserati’s Growing GT2 Ambitions
The final round of the 2025 season will unfold at Barcelona-Catalunya from 10–12 October, where Maserati aims to cap off a season of dominance in style. But the Trident brand’s vision extends far beyond a single championship. Maserati has thrown its weight behind the SRO GT Academy project—unveiled in June at Spa-Francorchamps—which will introduce a new Silver class to the GT2 European Series in 2026.
From 2027, the GT Academy will award standout Silver drivers the opportunity to compete in the GT World Challenge Europe – Endurance Cup, with the chance to pilot the Maserati GT2 or other top-tier machinery. The initiative underscores Maserati’s commitment to nurturing young talent and expanding its footprint in global GT racing.
Pride in Performance
“It’s been an extraordinary weekend in Valencia!” said Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse. “We are overwhelmed by an indescribable emotion: Maserati dominated in the GT2 European Series by Pirelli, winning the championship with performance that will go down in history. Our cars have once again demonstrated exceptional strength and reliability, confirming themselves in the lead in terms of technology and performance.
“We knew we had developed an extraordinary car, but seeing these successes materialise on the track is a source of immense pride for all of us. We are excited to offer our teams and drivers a car that can stand out, and we look forward to the upcoming challenges in the more than 20 international championships for which the Maserati GT2 is eligible.”
With back-to-back Am Class titles and a weekend that showcased both engineering excellence and driver brilliance, Maserati has reinforced its status as a formidable force in international GT racing—setting the stage for even greater ambitions in the seasons ahead.
