Maserati has begun 2026 with a statement of intent, capturing the spotlight at the Brussels Motor Show as it officially ushers in the Year of the Trident. Warmly received by the public and industry alike, the Italian marque’s presence from January 9 to 18 has emerged as one of the show’s defining highlights, blending a century of heritage with a bold, forward-looking vision for high-performance luxury.
This year carries exceptional symbolic weight for the House of the Trident. It marks 100 years since the unveiling of Maserati’s iconic emblem, inspired by Bologna’s Neptune Fountain, and a century since the brand’s first competitive triumph at the Targa Florio, where the Maserati Tipo 26 secured a class victory. Together, these milestones frame 2026 as both a celebration of legacy and a reaffirmation of Maserati’s enduring identity.
Located in Hall 11, the Maserati stand, created by D’Ieteren, has drawn a constant flow of visitors. Four key models anchor the display: the MCPURA Cielo, GranCabrio Folgore, Grecale Folgore, and the Grecale Lumina Blu Special Edition. Collectively, they illustrate the evolution of Maserati’s design language and technical philosophy, uniting driving emotion, contemporary luxury, and an increasingly sustainable approach to performance.
The celebrations extended beyond the exhibition floor on Saturday evening, January 10, with an exclusive event and dinner for customers and VIP guests. Set against a refined and evocative backdrop, the evening showcased vehicles of rare cultural and symbolic importance. Among them were the one-off GranTurismo and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica creations, alongside the formidable GT2 Stradale, a road-homologated supercar derived directly from Maserati’s racing expertise.
The Meccanica Lirica project represents a defining chapter in Maserati’s modern story. Conceived to celebrate the return of GranTurismo and GranCabrio production to the historic Modena plant, the concept fuses mechanical precision with the city’s operatic and musical soul. The GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica, finished in deep Rosso Velluto, draws inspiration from opera house curtains, evoking the intimacy of a concert hall. Its open-top counterpart, the GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica in Oro Lirico, captures the warmth and luminosity of the stage in an open-air interpretation of the operatic experience. Crafted at Officine Fuoriserie Maserati, these one-off creations showcase the brand’s artisanal mastery through meticulously selected materials, finishes, and bespoke detailing.
On the show stand itself, the MCPURA Cielo commands attention as Maserati’s latest sporty supercar. Presented in an open-air configuration, it features a refreshed exterior design, refined interiors, and the unmistakable character of the Nettuno V6 engine, a modern emblem of Maserati’s racing DNA. The model on display wears the striking Aqua Rainbow launch livery from the Fuoriserie collection, adding a vibrant flourish to its already dramatic presence.
Electric performance also takes centre stage. The GranCabrio Folgore, finished in Bianco Astro, pairs elegant four-seat open-top motoring with a fully electric powertrain. With a top speed of 290 km/h, it stands as the fastest electric convertible currently on the market. Alongside it, the Grecale Folgore represents Maserati’s vision for electric luxury in the premium SUV segment, offering a WLTP range of up to 580 km. Finished in exclusive Verde Royale with Ghiaccio interiors, it features an AWD-Disconnect system designed to maximise efficiency without compromising performance.
Completing the line-up is the European debut of the Grecale Lumina Blu Special Edition. This exclusive version combines a fully equipped technological package with distinctive visual cues, including the Night Interaction exterior, 21-inch Pegaso wheels, yellow brake calipers, and a yellow Trident on the C-pillar. Inside, Chocolate leather upholstery and open-pore briarwood inserts create an atmosphere of understated sophistication and comfort.
Together, the carefully curated display, the presence of iconic and bespoke models, and the immersive VIP experience have made Maserati’s appearance at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show a resounding success. As the Year of the Trident unfolds, it positions the brand at a moment of celebration, innovation, and consolidation on the global automotive stage.
Reflecting on the occasion, Maserati COO Santo Ficili commented: “The enthusiasm we are seeing at the Brussels Motor Show confirms the strength of the brand at a highly symbolic moment. The Year of the Trident has opened with an extremely positive response from the public, reflecting a vision that unites heritage, innovation, and artisanal excellence. Maserati looks to the future with confidence and ambition, reaffirming its leadership in the high-performance luxury segment.”
