Modena, 01 September 2025 – Maserati has written a new chapter in collector car history as a 2005 MC12 Stradale achieved a record-breaking $5.2 million at Broad Arrow’s (a Hagerty Company) Monterey Jet Center Auction during Monterey Car Week on August 13.
Produced in just 50 examples—25 in 2004 and another 25 in 2005—the MC12 Stradale represents the pinnacle of Maserati’s engineering ambition, performance artistry and visionary design. Powered by a 6.0-litre V12 producing 630 hp at 7,500 rpm, the Stradale is instantly recognisable for its striking white bodywork with blue accents, a tribute to the legendary Maserati Birdcage Type 61 of 1959–1961. Two decades after its debut, the car continues to inspire collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.

The sale not only surpasses the previous record for the model by 37 percent but also establishes the MC12 as the most valuable modern Maserati ever sold at auction. This achievement underscores its enduring legacy as a car that defined an era.
Originally conceived as a road-going counterpart to the MC12 GT1, the Stradale’s DNA is firmly rooted in motorsport. Between 2004 and 2010, the MC12 GT1 dominated FIA GT racing, securing 14 titles, 22 race wins, 2 Constructors’ Cups, 5 Drivers’ Championships, 6 Team Championships and three victories at the 24 Hours of Spa. This direct link to the track cemented the MC12’s reputation as a benchmark in design, technology and performance.
The Monterey result highlights not only the car’s collectible value but also the growing demand for supercars that combine rarity, racing pedigree and innovative engineering. In a market increasingly focused on authenticity and brand heritage, Maserati continues to stand at the forefront. With contemporary limited-series models such as the new Maserati MCXtrema, the Trident reaffirms its enduring status as a symbol of passion, prestige and timeless performance.
