Guild of Motoring Writers members who serve as editors have less than a week to submit their entries for the prestigious Bentley Editor of the Year Award, with the deadline closing at midnight on Tuesday, 30th September. The accolade, accompanied by a £500 cash prize, a trophy, and a complimentary ticket to the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner in London this December, recognises editorial excellence in the motoring media.
First presented in 2010 and proudly sponsored by Bentley Motors since 2019, the award celebrates editors who expertly balance the often competing demands of publishers and readers while nurturing journalistic talent. Judges are particularly keen to see evidence of strong leadership, innovative editorial approaches, and a deep understanding of a publication’s audience, alongside a commitment to developing staff and fostering excellence across the team.
The 2024 award went to Pal Negyesi, editor of Rare & Unique Vehicles, who successfully defended his title against two rivals shortlisted for the second consecutive year: Richard Aucock of Auto Retail Profit and Tom Geggus of Autovista24. According to the judges, Pal’s submission distinguished itself not only through the consistent quality of his publication but also through his enthusiastic commitment to creating something wholly original within a highly competitive market.

The Bentley Editor of the Year forms part of the Guild’s 2025 Awards, which feature 14 different categories, each offering trophies and cash prizes. Finalists will be announced in mid-November, and those shortlisted will receive a complimentary invitation to the awards ceremony, hosted as part of the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall.
Editors intending to enter are urged to carefully read the online instructions before submitting their applications. Entry forms, detailed rules, and further information about the awards are available at www.gomw.co.uk/awards. Any questions regarding the entry process can be directed to Honorary Secretary Richard Netherwood at [email protected].
With the entry window closing rapidly, Guild editors are encouraged to act swiftly to ensure their chance to compete for one of motoring journalism’s most prestigious honours.
