Hino South Africa Achieves Historic High in Dealer Satisfaction Survey
Hino South Africa made history at the 2024 Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) award ceremony by securing a Platinum award for the sixth consecutive year. This year, Hino became the first company to receive a rating exceeding 90% from its dealer network.
The annual DSI survey, conducted by the National Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) since 2008, evaluates the satisfaction of franchised commercial vehicle dealers.
“The DSI is a critical benchmark for assessing dealer satisfaction across various automotive brands. This year, 183 commercial vehicle dealerships participated,” explained Itumeleng Segage, General Manager of Hino SA. “Securing a Platinum award for the sixth time and achieving a record high score underscores the excellent collaboration between Hino team members and the staff at our 63 dealers.”
Bobby Pringle, Chairperson of the Hino South Africa Dealer Council, expressed immense pride in Hino South Africa’s exceptional performance in the highly competitive South African truck market.
“These results highlight the strong partnership between Hino SA and its dealers, with a shared goal of delivering outstanding service to our customers. This commitment contributes significantly to the profitability of their transport operations,” Pringle elaborated.

“The launch of the competitive Hino 700 last year has opened new market opportunities, while our well-established Hino 200, 300, and 500 ranges continue to thrive.”
Platinum DSI awards are granted to brands scoring 85.0 or above, with Hino being the sole commercial vehicle brand to achieve this level of satisfaction this year. Six brands attained Gold status (75.0 – 84.9), one achieved Silver (70.0 – 74.9), and one received Bronze (65.0 – 69.9).
This year’s commercial vehicle survey showed notable improvement, with the average overall score increasing from 77.9 in 2023 to 78.8, marking the highest average score in the 28-year history of the rating index. The survey, conducted independently and sponsored by WesBank for the past 20 years, paused only in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participating dealerships are evaluated in 13 focus areas, including dealer satisfaction, communication and relationships, used cars, CSI programs, vehicle range, vehicle distribution, parts, policy claims and warranty, franchise compliance audits, dealer support, and labor rates.
