Pretoria, South Africa – Hino South Africa has reaffirmed its position as a leading force in the local truck market, underpinned by decades of commitment to quality, durability, and reliability (QDR). At a recent media briefing held at the Gazoo Racing headquarters at Zwartkops Raceway, the company outlined the next chapter of its growth strategy, emphasising both global integration and local customer care.
In a video message to attendees, Satoshi Ogiso, President and CEO of Hino Motors Limited, highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to integrate operations with Fuso and Daimler into a new global truck manufacturing and marketing entity. “We are making good progress integrating the operations of Hino Motors, Fuso and Daimler into a new, global truck manufacturing and marketing company even though it is a complicated process. It will result in significant benefits for all involved – including our customers – in terms of joint research and development, procurement, and production,” Ogiso stated. He added that the final structure of this new business model would be announced on 1 April 2025, signalling a pivotal milestone for the company.
Local operations remain robust and customer-focused
For South African truck operators, the reassurance came from Anton Falck, Vice President of Hino South Africa, who confirmed that the Hino distribution network and retail model will remain unchanged. “Differentiating ourselves from competitors through the international ‘Hino Total Support’ strategy will become more important than ever,” Falck explained, underlining the company’s commitment to seamless service and customer satisfaction.
Hino South Africa’s deep-rooted presence in the market is evident. Backed by Toyota SA Motors, Hino has been a trusted player for more than 50 years, adapting its strategies, products, and services to meet the evolving needs of local operators. Falck emphasised that the brand’s success rests on its unwavering QDR promise, supported by a nationwide dealer network committed to exceptional aftersales care.

Recognition for excellence in service and dealer satisfaction
The company’s dedication to customer satisfaction is reflected in its consistent top rankings. Hino has been rated No. 1 overall in Comparative Customer Satisfaction in quarterly Datatrack surveys since March 2020. Furthermore, the brand recently earned a Platinum Award for the fifth consecutive year in the National Automobile Dealer Association’s (NADA) Dealer Satisfaction Survey, showcasing dealers’ appreciation for Hino’s ongoing support and confidence in future returns.
With a network of 66 outlets across South Africa, Hino has successfully maintained stable sales in a challenging market. Its market share has steadily climbed from fifth in 2023, to fourth in 2024, and currently positions the brand third overall – a notable achievement in a highly competitive industry.
Enhancing value with a six-year driveline warranty
In a major customer-focused initiative, Hino South Africa is introducing a six-year driveline warranty, available at no additional cost on all new trucks. Falck highlighted that this warranty applies retrospectively to trucks purchased since 1 January 2025, is transferable in the event of resale, and includes generous kilometre allowances depending on the model. “This warranty is more than just an extension of coverage; it’s a vote of confidence in Hino’s engineering and manufacturing standards, supported by our skilled technicians nationwide,” he said.
Hino’s continued pursuit of excellence on the global stage
The media briefing concluded with an exciting announcement: Hino South Africa will continue to showcase its QDR credentials by entering a truck in the 2026 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. As the only Japanese truck maker to participate, Hino has competed for 34 consecutive years, finishing every race – a testament to the brand’s reliability and performance under the harshest conditions.
With global integration on the horizon, a strengthened local network, and unwavering dedication to customers, Hino South Africa is poised to drive forward with confidence, offering operators both the assurance of quality and the promise of continued innovation.
