Hino South Africa has unveiled a six-year driveline warranty for all trucks sold from 1 January 2025 onwards. Offered at no cost to customers, this OEM-backed warranty significantly enhances value and reduces ownership risk. It is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive drivetrain warranties in Southern Africa.
“We view this initiative as more than a simple extension of warranty coverage—it’s a testament to Hino’s engineering and manufacturing standards,” said Anton Falck, Vice President of Hino SA. “Our nationwide network of 66 dealers, supported by highly skilled technicians, ensures service and maintenance meet global Hino Quality Service standards.”
Falck explained that the new warranty addresses key concerns for fleet operators, including cost predictability, uptime, and long-term asset value. “By reducing unplanned downtime, enhancing residual value, and extending operational confidence, this warranty positions Hino SA not only as a product leader but also as a long-term partner to its customers, in a market where vehicle longevity and predictable running costs are more important than ever.”
The success of the programme depends on the Hino dealer network, which ensures timely maintenance and diagnostics according to the manufacturer’s recommended schedules. Regular preventative service preserves the safety, performance, and reliability of each truck.

“Green-lighting this six-year warranty required extensive internal effort,” Falck added. “Executive approval followed months of data modelling, durability testing, and cross-departmental collaboration. The research confirmed that the proven performance of Hino trucks in South Africa, combined with our mature aftersales infrastructure, could sustain a six-year commitment without compromising brand integrity or profitability.”
Mileage limits for the warranty vary by model: 900,000 km for 700 Series truck-tractors and freight carriers, 450,000 km for 700 Series tippers, 600,000 km for 500 Series, 400,000 km for 300 Series, and 250,000 km for 200 Series. Warranty coverage requires adherence to scheduled servicing intervals—either at set mileage or, for low-mileage vehicles, every six months—using genuine Hino parts and fluids to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
The warranty exclusively covers the drivetrain and excludes wear-and-tear items and consumables such as clutches, engine mountings, and fluids.
“Hino South Africa’s six-year driveline warranty demonstrates a commitment to share the operational burden with customers, supporting fleet productivity long after purchase,” Falck concluded. “Paired with a service or maintenance plan, it gives customers clear insight into planned operational costs over six years. In an era where uptime equals money and reliability is paramount, Hino SA is sending a clear message to fleet operators and national carriers: we are with you all the way.”
