In a story of redemption, resilience, and raw determination, record-breaking mountaineer and Dacia Adventure Community member Akke Rahman has successfully summited Ama Dablam (6,812m) — one of the most iconic and technically demanding peaks in the Himalayas. Rising sharply above Nepal’s Khumbu Valley, Ama Dablam’s striking form and unforgiving terrain have earned it the nickname “The Himalayan Matterhorn.” Translating to “Mother’s Necklace” in Nepali, the mountain is revered by climbers for both its breathtaking beauty and its brutal difficulty.
For Akke, this was not just another ascent — it was a return to unfinished business. His first attempt in 2021 ended in near tragedy after a chain of setbacks: weather delays, food poisoning, and finally, a life-threatening case of high-altitude cerebral edema (HACE). Forced to be airlifted from the mountain and spend five days in intensive care, the experience left a scar that only a successful summit could heal.
“I’ve thought about Ama Dablam every day since that first climb,” Akke reflects. “It defeated me once, and I needed to face it again. Standing on that summit felt like closing a chapter that’s been open for years. It’s proof that failure isn’t the end — it’s part of the journey.”
Four years later, at 42, Akke returned stronger, wiser, and driven by the same unrelenting spirit that has defined his mountaineering journey. His success on Ama Dablam is more than a personal victory — it’s a symbol of the Dacia ethos of accessible adventure, celebrating the courage to keep going when the odds seem insurmountable.
Since climbing his very first mountain, Snowdon, just six years ago to inspire his children, Akke’s achievements have been nothing short of extraordinary. He has summited Everest (twice), Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc, Elbrus, and Manaslu, becoming the first British Muslim to reach the summit of Everest in 2022. His journey from self-taught climber to record-breaking mountaineer perfectly embodies Dacia’s belief that adventure doesn’t belong only to professionals or the privileged — it’s for anyone bold enough to step outside their comfort zone.

Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, praised Akke’s accomplishment, saying:
“Akke’s achievement on Ama Dablam is incredible, not just because of the climb itself, but because of what it represents. He shows that real adventure isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence. From a self-taught climber on Snowdon to summiting one of the world’s most beautiful and brutal peaks, Akke is the perfect embodiment of the Dacia spirit — brave, unpretentious, and determined.”
Through its Dacia Adventure Community, the brand continues to champion real people with a passion for the outdoors — whether they’re scaling mountains, exploring new paths, or simply seeking adventure in everyday life. Akke’s story stands as a powerful reminder that adventure is not about escaping the world, but engaging with it — one step, one climb, and one summit at a time.
With Ama Dablam behind him, Akke Rahman’s journey is far from over. If anything, it has only reinforced his message — and Dacia’s — that the greatest adventures often begin where comfort ends.
