In a world brimming with possibilities, it’s surprising that many Brits feel their adventurous spirit dwindling by the age of 36. According to new research by Dacia, the car brand synonymous with outdoor exploration, this decline is driven by physical and mental fatigue (53%), financial pressures (43%), and the monotony of routine (39%).
Even more astonishingly, Gen Z believes their spark fades at just 13 years old—a full 23 years earlier than the national average—highlighting an alarming trend in how modern life stifles exploration and excitement.
The Costs of Adventure
Adventure doesn’t have to mean a Himalayan trek or a skydiving escapade. Yet, two-thirds of Brits (67%) believe a meaningful adventure costs upwards of £50. This mindset contributes to the £505 the average Brit spends annually on adventures, despite the wealth of affordable or even free activities available.
An Appetite for Change
Despite these challenges, the desire to reconnect with adventure remains strong. Over half (52%) of Brits have set a 2025 goal to reignite their adventurous side. Popular methods include immersing in nature (42%), carving out personal time (40%), and trying new hobbies (37%). These small shifts promise significant benefits, including reduced stress (41%), improved sleep (38%), and enhanced confidence (32%).

Dacia’s Everyday Adventure Movement
Recognizing the barriers to adventure, Dacia is championing the concept of “Everyday Adventure.” The idea? Adventures don’t have to be grand or expensive—they can be simple, local, and affordable, yet packed with joy, challenge, and reward.
Luke Broad, Dacia UK Brand Director, explains:
“Adventure doesn’t have to mean scaling mountains or spending thousands. Life’s responsibilities—school runs, financial pressures, or lack of time—often push adventure to the sidelines. But small, fresh experiences can help us keep that spark alive, regardless of age.”
To support this mission, Dacia has unveiled its Everyday Adventure Guide, a curated collection of simple yet inspiring activities designed to reignite Britain’s adventurous spirit.
Adventure Ideas for Everyone
From building a living room fort to stargazing in the local park, Dacia’s guide demonstrates how easy it is to inject excitement into everyday life. Highlights include:
- Flipping a coin to determine your next destination.
- Packing a picnic for a new scenic spot.
- Visiting the highest point in your local area.
- Starting a time capsule for future discovery.
- Dining in reverse—dessert first!
These suggestions are accessible to all ages and promise an adventure that’s both meaningful and memorable.
