Dacia, the brand renowned for redefining automotive essentials, has reached new heights in 2024, achieving its best-ever market share in Europe and crossing the significant milestone of 9 million vehicles sold since its 2004 reintroduction. With 676,340 vehicles sold—a 2.7% increase on 2023—Dacia has once again demonstrated its ability to blend value, performance, and accessibility.
A Stellar Year for Market Performance
In 2024, Dacia secured a record 3.9% market share in the Passenger Car (PC) and Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV)* categories across Europe, marking a 0.1% increase over 2023. Its PC-only market share also grew to 4.5%, elevating Dacia to ninth position in the European rankings.
The brand maintained its stronghold on the European retail market, achieving an 8.2% share of PC sales to retail customers. This success underscores Dacia’s unwavering focus on its core customer base, retaining its place on the podium for the fourth consecutive year.
Regional highlights further illustrate Dacia’s growing appeal. Countries such as Austria, Belgium-Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, and Portugal recorded all-time highs in market share, while markets including the Czech Republic, Spain, and Morocco saw double-digit growth in sales volumes.
Key Models Driving Growth
Dacia’s success in 2024 can be attributed to its robust product lineup, led by four standout models:
- Sandero: Europe’s best-selling vehicle across all channels in 2024, with 309,392 units sold (+14.5%). Sandero has dominated the retail market since 2017, becoming the first Dacia model to surpass 300,000 sales in a single year.
- Duster: With 215,024 units sold (+7.3%), the Duster remains Europe’s best-selling SUV in the retail market since 2018. The latest generation, launched in 2024, saw nearly a third of its sales come from hybrid powertrains, exemplifying Dacia’s strategic pivot toward electrification.
- Jogger: Maintaining its podium position in the non-SUV C-segment, the Jogger sold 96,440 units (+2.4%), with hybrid variants accounting for 29% of sales.
- Spring: Despite a 63% drop in sales due to reduced government incentives, the updated Spring model, launched in September, has revitalized interest, reflected in a surge of orders during the final quarter.

Winning Over Customers
Dacia’s ability to attract and retain customers is a testament to its unique value proposition. In major European markets, 62% of new Dacia buyers were previously non-Renault Group customers, while 81% of existing Dacia owners chose another Renault Group vehicle for their next purchase.
High-spec variants continue to dominate sales, with 78% of 2024 customers opting for top-level equipment. This figure rises to 80% for the new-generation Duster, highlighting the growing demand for well-equipped, affordable vehicles.
To enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty, Dacia’s innovative Zen warranty offers up to seven years of coverage, provided customers complete annual servicing with an official Dacia retailer.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Dacia is set to build on its momentum in 2025 with an ambitious strategic roadmap. Key highlights include:
- The Launch of the Bigster: This highly anticipated C-SUV will debut in spring 2025, with pre-orders now open. True to Dacia’s ethos, the Bigster promises exceptional value, with prices starting at £24,995 and the full range remaining under £30,000.
- Electrification Expansion: Dacia will broaden its hybrid powertrain offerings, including the HYBRID 155 debuting in the Bigster, reinforcing its commitment to accessible, sustainable mobility.
- Dakar Rally Participation: Dacia’s involvement in the Dakar Rally and World Rally-Raid Championship highlights the brand’s rugged, adventurous spirit.
