Maranello, 19 November 2025 – Ferrari is set to reaffirm its historic commitment to education with the announcement of M-TECH Alfredo Ferrari, a groundbreaking educational hub scheduled for completion in 2029. The initiative aims to cultivate the next generation of automotive and technology innovators, creating a continuous learning ecosystem that merges advanced technical training with real-world industry experience.
The hub, conceived as a forward-looking centre for education and professional development, will also house a state school built and donated to the community. This ambitious project reflects Ferrari’s enduring commitment to Maranello, aiming to attract national and international students while generating a positive impact for both the region and the automotive sector at large.
The programme and architectural vision were unveiled today at Ferrari’s headquarters by John Elkann, Chairman of Ferrari and Fondazione Agnelli, alongside Michele de Pascale, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region; Fabio Braglia, President of the Province of Modena; and Luigi Zironi, Mayor of Maranello.
Financing for M-TECH is supported through contributions from Ferraristi via The Ferrari Foundation, a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity committed to creating educational opportunities. The public gym, an integral part of the complex, will be funded through resources allocated by the Emilia-Romagna Region.
A Commitment to People and Progress
“M-TECH Alfredo Ferrari represents a tangible commitment to the territory,” Elkann stated. “Following the example of Enzo Ferrari, who founded a technical training school in Maranello, we want to pursue his forward-looking vision in the conviction that education is the key to the future. This is the will to progress that drives Ferrari and this district.”
Michele de Pascale highlighted the region’s strategic role: “Emilia-Romagna is a land of motors, innovation, and talent. Training new professionals in the automotive sector and advanced technologies reinforces our region’s competitiveness and positions us among the global leaders in innovation.”
Fabio Braglia emphasized the partnership model: “M-TECH is a model of cooperation between institutions and private entities, demonstrating what can be achieved through shared vision and commitment.”
Luigi Zironi reflected on the project’s local significance: “M-TECH is an extraordinary investment in our young people’s future, offering educational and training pathways aligned with the technological challenges of tomorrow.”
An Integrated and Inclusive Educational Offering
The M-TECH Alfredo Ferrari hub will offer a full spectrum of educational programmes:
- Istituto tecnico di istruzione superiore “Alfredo Ferrari”: The state school, originally founded and donated by Enzo Ferrari, will continue offering courses in mechanical engineering, robotics, electronics, automation, diagnostics, CAD, and additive manufacturing.
- MUNER (Motor Valley University of Emilia-Romagna): The hub will provide dedicated spaces for advanced mechanical design, simulation work, CAD/CAM modelling, and access to state-of-the-art workstations.
- ITS Maker Academy: Post-diploma courses focused on laboratory-based, hands-on learning will continue in specially designed spaces.
- Continuing Professional Development: Courses will also serve professionals in the automotive and technology sectors seeking to expand their skillsets.
Architecture That Connects Learning and Community
The building, designed by Italian architectural practice Labics, will extend across 32,000 m² on the site of a disused factory on Via Vignola, with construction beginning in early 2027. Completed in time for Scuderia Ferrari’s centenary in 2029, the complex will feature over 40 classrooms, 23 workshops and labs, coworking spaces, and social areas including an auditorium, library, and cafe.
A public gym and guest quarters will further integrate the hub into the community, while a 2,500 m² square with trees will serve as a gathering space for both students and Maranello residents. The design emphasizes sustainability, with low emissions, energy-efficient solutions, and integrated photovoltaic panels generating up to 240 kW.
Workshops at the Heart of Learning
Following the model of the original Istituto Alfredo Ferrari, workshops covering 3,000 m² will form the core of practical learning. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies and continuously updated, these spaces will enable students to develop prototypes, simulate production processes, and bridge the gap between theory and real-world industry practices.
A Design Rooted in Educational Innovation
Labics’ architectural proposal builds on Ferrari’s long-standing tradition of excellence in Maranello, integrating the principles developed by Fondazione Agnelli through its ‘Torino fa scuola’ research project. The hub will function as a learning landscape, fostering openness, transparency, and interaction with nature, including shaded outdoor learning spaces that enhance wellbeing and collaboration.
Consolidating a Historic Educational Commitment
Education has been a core part of Ferrari’s relationship with Maranello since 1945, when Enzo Ferrari founded the original technical school in memory of his son Alfredo, better known as Dino. Over the decades, Ferrari and Fondazione Agnelli have expanded their initiatives with projects such as Arcipelago Educativo, GET, and Medie XL, as well as innovation-focused learning centres like the e.DO Learning Center and immersive digital classrooms in local schools.
M-TECH Alfredo Ferrari represents the latest chapter in this legacy, combining tradition with innovation to equip future generations with the skills, knowledge, and inspiration to lead in the automotive and technology sectors.
