Maranello, 04 June 2025 – Ferrari once again asserts its design supremacy on the global stage, sweeping the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best awards with three extraordinary models: the Ferrari 12Cilindri, Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, and the groundbreaking hybrid F80 supercar. This remarkable achievement marks another milestone for Maranello’s legendary styling prowess, reaffirming Ferrari’s position as an industry beacon for innovation and timeless elegance.
The German Red Dot Award, now in its 71st year, is one of the world’s most respected accolades in industrial design, celebrating excellence, innovation, and superior craftsmanship across sectors. The awards ceremony will be held on 8 July 2025 in Essen, Germany, where Ferrari’s latest victories will be formally honoured. Over the past 11 years, Ferrari has amassed an impressive total of 32 Red Dot Awards — a record unmatched by any other car manufacturer since the award’s inception in 1955. Since 2015 alone, the marque has claimed 13 of the coveted Red Dot: Best of the Best prizes, underscoring an unrelenting commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive design.
At the heart of this success is the Ferrari Styling Centre, helmed by the visionary Flavio Manzoni. Their work consistently marries form and function to create vehicles that not only embody Ferrari’s rich heritage but also drive the future of automotive artistry.
Ferrari 12Cilindri and 12Cilindri Spider: A Timeless Tribute to Front-Engine V12 Excellence
The Ferrari 12Cilindri and its open-top sibling, the 12Cilindri Spider, pay homage to the grand touring spirit of Ferrari’s front-engine V12 two-seaters from the 1950s and 60s. These berlinettas are the latest chapter in a lineage revered for balancing elegance, versatility, and high performance.
Their design language is a masterclass in restraint and sophistication. Simple yet evocative lines exude sportiness and class, while modern innovations like integrated active aerodynamics enhance performance without compromising aesthetic purity. The front-hinged clamshell bonnet proudly showcases the naturally aspirated V12 engine — a signature of the Prancing Horse — while the twin pairs of exhaust pipes maintain a classic Ferrari design cue.
The 12Cilindri Spider introduces a retractable hardtop (RHT) that transforms the coupe into a convertible in just 14 seconds, operable at speeds up to 45 km/h. This blend of advanced engineering and nostalgic design perfectly encapsulates Ferrari’s mission to elevate tradition with cutting-edge technology.

F80: Maranello’s Technological Tour de Force
The F80 supercar represents the zenith of Ferrari’s hybrid performance engineering. Its carbon-fibre chassis cradles a revolutionary hybrid powertrain delivering a staggering 1200 horsepower, of which 900 hp stem from the 499P-derived three-litre V6 engine. This power unit, celebrated for securing consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 and 2024, boasts a specific output of 300 hp per litre — a testament to Ferrari’s relentless engineering excellence.
Complementing the combustion engine is an 800-volt hybrid system featuring an electric front axle (e-4WD) and a rear electric motor (MGU-K), collectively contributing an additional 300 horsepower. Innovations borrowed from Formula 1, such as e-turbos (MGU-H), harness excess kinetic energy from turbine rotation to eradicate turbo lag and maximize throttle response.
Aerodynamics are meticulously engineered for track dominance, with the F80 producing 1050 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. The rear active wing dynamically adjusts its height and angle of incidence to optimize performance. Its advanced suspension system includes upper arms crafted through 3D metal additive manufacturing, enhancing handling precision. The Boost Optimisation feature intelligently maps track data to unleash extra power where it counts, shaving precious seconds from lap times.
Inside, the asymmetrical ‘1+’ cockpit creates a single-seater effect, designed exclusively for driver comfort while still accommodating a passenger. The F80’s exclusivity is underscored by a production run limited to 799 units, available until 2027, the year Ferrari celebrates its 80th anniversary.
A Legacy of Design Excellence
These three models exemplify Ferrari’s ongoing quest to harmonise heritage, innovation, and performance. The Red Dot: Best of the Best awards not only celebrate these vehicles’ exceptional aesthetics and engineering but also the visionary team behind them, who continue to set Ferrari apart in an increasingly competitive industry.
As Ferrari advances towards its 80th anniversary, the marque’s trophy cabinet reflects decades of design brilliance — a testament to Maranello’s enduring influence on automotive culture worldwide.
