Maranello, 04 June 2024 – The development testing of a groundbreaking new tyre, designed in collaboration with Pirelli for the iconic 2002 Enzo Ferrari, concluded today at the Fiorano track. Maintaining the original dimensions and aspect ratio, the Pirelli P Zero Corsa System tyre incorporates advanced materials, cutting-edge compounds, and innovative technology to deliver exceptional grip, performance, and safety comparable to contemporary tyres. This new tyre, available in the original 245/35 R19 (front) and 345/35 R19 (rear) sizes, features two distinct directional and asymmetric tread patterns to mitigate aquaplaning effectively.
Ferrari has also granted official approval for the use of updated versions of P Zero and P Zero Corsa System tyres from Pirelli’s Collezione range for the legendary F40 and F50 models. The F40, launched in 1987, was the first high-performance vehicle to feature Pirelli’s then-new P Zero tyre. Pirelli has now introduced an updated version, maintaining the original sizes of 245/40 R17 (front) and 335/35 R17 (rear), with modifications to the sidewall lettering to preserve the tyre’s authentic look.
The P Zero Corsa System tyres for the 1995 Ferrari F50, available in 245/35 R18 (front) and 335/30 R18 (rear), underwent rigorous development testing at Fiorano. This ensured that they deliver the same handling characteristics and performance feel as the original tyres.
Additionally, Ferrari is currently developing a dedicated tyre for the 1984 GTO. To celebrate this, Ferrari will host a Legacy Tour from 1st to 4th October, taking participants from the Italian Dolomites to Maranello. The tyre for the GTO is the Pirelli P7 Cinturato, originally crafted from expertise gained in the World Rally Championship since 1974 and first introduced to production sports cars in 1976. Known as the first modern tyre with a low aspect ratio for enhanced handling, the P7 will be available in the original sizes (225/50 R16 front and 265/50 R16 rear) and will blend a period-accurate appearance with modern materials and construction technology.
By officially approving replacement tyres for these four legendary supercars, Ferrari reaffirms its dedication to ensuring that owners of historically significant Prancing Horse models can continue to enjoy their vehicles with confidence and safety on modern roads.
