As Bentley Motors opens the doors to its state-of-the-art design studio in Crewe, it simultaneously lifts the veil on its most forward-looking vision yet: the EXP 15. This concept car, though never intended for production or sale, distills the brand’s storied past into a breathtaking forecast of its all-electric future. It is at once a design manifesto and an immersive experience — rendered physically as a full-scale exterior model and virtually through a digital interior — offering tantalising clues to the marque’s first fully electric production vehicle, due in 2026.
At the heart of EXP 15 lies a bold interpretation of Bentley’s iconic design DNA, recalibrated for a new era of mobility. Drawing inspiration from the legendary 1930 Bentley Speed Six “Blue Train,” this grand tourer reimagines classic elegance for a digital and electric age, transforming legacy into living art.
Heritage Reimagined: Design Cues From the “Blue Train”
The silhouette of EXP 15 instantly communicates Bentley’s vision of “Upright Elegance.” Its elongated, seemingly endless bonnet flows effortlessly into a cabin positioned rearward — a signature nod to the Gurney Nutting-bodied Sportsman coupe that famously raced (and beat) the Blue Train across France. Yet in contrast to its 20th-century muse, EXP 15 features a thoroughly modern, almost architectural surface language: monolithic yet carved, muscular yet precise.
From the front, a reinterpreted upright grille becomes the centrepiece of a new digital identity. Where once it served as an air intake, today it glows with LED artistry, split vertically by a light spine cascading from beneath the Winged B. Flanking the grille are four razor-thin headlight blades, inset close to the front wheel arches, enhancing width and aerodynamic presence.
Flowing rearward, subtle yet assertive haunches embody what the designers call the “Resting Beast” posture. Here, power is implied, not shouted — a grounded gracefulness that evokes the stance of a thoroughbred at rest. A clean “Prestigious Shield” forms the concept’s rear fascia, framed by slender tail lights featuring a futuristic 3D diamond pattern. Above it all sits a refreshed Winged B emblem, echoing the spirit of the 1919 original while pointing resolutely forward.
A Tailored Grand Tour: Function in Form
EXP 15 is more than sculptural poetry — it is a functional concept grounded in user experience. The bonnet, freed from housing a large combustion engine, now conceals twin storage compartments with hinged covers, a playful homage to the Gurney Nutting coupe’s piano-lid engine bay. Beneath the sweeping tailgate lies a fully integrated tailgate seating suite, complete with ambient lighting and a retractable fridge — a detail conceived for elegant, alfresco moments.
From above, active aerodynamic elements such as deployable twin spoilers and a rear diffuser merge seamlessly into the form, marrying aesthetic purity with efficiency.
Inside the Future: A Virtual Reality Vision of Craftsmanship and Innovation
The cabin of EXP 15, experienced via virtual reality, marks a significant evolution in Bentley’s interior philosophy. Configured as a three-seater — an uncommon layout inspired by the 1930s coupe — it blends theatre with purpose. One driver’s-side door opens to reveal a snug cockpit and a singular rear seat behind it. On the passenger side, twin coach doors and a portion of the panoramic roof rise gracefully, enabling effortless ingress and egress.
The standout passenger seat can swivel outward 45 degrees, evoking what Bentley’s design team dubs “the art of arrival.” Its adjustable layout allows for co-pilot, recline or rearward ‘lounging’ positions — made possible by the innovative Concertina Floor Storage system that accommodates pets or personal items discreetly below the footwell.
The surrounding architecture fuses natural and digital elements in unprecedented ways. A new “Wing Gesture” dashboard sweeps across the interior, hiding or revealing functionality on demand. Like Bentley’s Rotating Display taken to a futuristic extreme, the dashboard’s glass interface can dissolve into polished veneer or transform into a dynamic digital hub, depending on driver intent.
At the heart of this digital-physical interplay sits the “Mechanical Marvel” — a clock-like, multi-functional centrepiece that provides ambient data cues such as direction of travel and battery charge levels while serving as a sculptural focal point in its own right.

Material Innovation: Heritage Fabrics, Futuristic Finishes
In curating the EXP 15’s interior materials, Bentley has collaborated with revered British artisans to elevate traditional textiles into futuristic luxury. Fox Brothers, a 250-year-old weaving house and inventor of thorn-proof cloth, provides a 100% wool damson ombré textile that pairs exquisitely with modern 3D-printed titanium. In the rear, jacquard silk by Gainsborough — suppliers to British royalty — is contrasted with “Acrylic Couture,” a luminous woven metal mesh encapsulated in acrylic, used within the dashboard for ambient 3D effects.
Even Bentley’s signature diamond quilting receives a modern reinterpretation. A new “active 3D quilt” incorporates cut veneer overlays with back-lit layers of hybrid mesh or silk, creating illuminated motifs that shift in depth and tone.
The exterior too reflects this meeting of old and new. Painted in Pallas Gold — a shimmering liquid metal hue with nickel-like flecks — the surface incorporates ultra-thin aluminium pigments. These not only permit unhindered transmission for radar-based safety systems but also ensure visibility to Lidar technology — critical for next-gen autonomous features.
Visionary Performance: Electrification Without Compromise
Though no technical figures are provided, the EXP 15 is imagined with a fully electric, all-wheel drive powertrain promising effortless acceleration, generous range, and rapid charging capabilities. The choice of drivetrain reflects Bentley’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and a future where grand touring remains both indulgent and responsible.
Yet EXP 15 is not simply a prelude to Bentley’s first all-electric model launching in 2026. Rather, it is a broader, bolder statement — a living canvas of what electrified luxury might look, feel and behave like when filtered through Bentley’s lens of British craftsmanship and contemporary excellence.
A Rolling Manifesto of Bentley’s Next Chapter
In unveiling EXP 15, Bentley has given form not only to its ambitions but also to a deeply human experience of the road ahead — one where elegance, emotion, sustainability and digital innovation harmonise.
As Robin Page, Bentley’s Director of Design, so aptly summarises, EXP 15 is not simply about showing what the future holds — it’s about starting a conversation with customers about what that future could be. In its physical form and virtual soul, EXP 15 is both tribute and transformation — a modern grand tourer born of heritage, but destined for a new world.
