Bentley’s latest collaboration with Bentley Motor Company and FAT International unfolded in rarefied mountain air yesterday, as the iconic Grossglockner High Alpine Road became the stage for a full-scale brand takeover at FAT Mankei, perched at 2,262 metres above sea level.
The activation marked the third joint event of 2026 between Bentley and FAT International, continuing a year defined by winter ice drives and high-altitude performance storytelling. This time, the narrative shifted from frozen lakes to sweeping alpine tarmac, where the rhythm of altitude and engine note met in a carefully choreographed celebration of Bentley capability.
At the heart of the experience was a rare gathering of performance lineage. For the first time, all three of Bentley’s Pikes Peak challengers stood together in one place, forming a visual and mechanical dialogue across eras of engineering ambition. The 2021 Continental GT3 Pikes Peak, the record-setting Bentayga Pikes Peak SUV, and the Continental GT Pikes Peak hill climb champion created a triad of extreme performance, each representing a different interpretation of speed under thin mountain air.
Alongside them, heritage and future framed the scene like living bookends. The 2003 Le Mans-winning Bentley Speed 8 stood as a reminder of endurance glory, while the Bentayga X Concept hinted at what comes next. Developed earlier in the year, the concept explored a more capable off-road direction for the Bentayga lineage, offering a glimpse into how Bentley might expand its luxury performance SUV philosophy in future production form.
The concept’s presence above the clouds felt deliberate rather than speculative, as though the altitude itself was part of the evaluation process. Guests and enthusiasts moved between past triumphs and future possibilities in a setting where engineering intent could be read directly against the landscape.
On the road, the experience turned participatory. The Bentayga Pikes Peak and Continental GT Pikes Peak models were deployed as passenger rides, carving through switchbacks and open alpine bends. The drives were not demonstrations in the traditional sense but shared moments of controlled intensity, where guests experienced the same machinery that had rewritten altitude records just years before.
Adding a different kind of performance layer was the Joe & The Juice Bentayga activation, a mobile espresso unit built into a vibrant pink Bentley SUV. Operated in partnership with Joe & The Juice, it served freshly prepared coffee to guests and passing travellers, blending hospitality with automotive theatre in a way only a mountain pass café could allow.
Against the backdrop of sunlit peaks, the atmosphere at FAT Mankei felt less like a product showcase and more like a living gallery of Bentley’s evolving identity. Engineering heritage, motorsport achievement, and future-facing design were all present at once, framed by one of Europe’s most celebrated driving roads.
The FAT Mankei x Bentley activation stands as a continuation of a growing partnership rhythm between the two brands, one that will extend into further events planned for 2027. In the meantime, this alpine moment captured Bentley at full altitude, where history, innovation, and performance converged above the clouds.
