Salvador de Bahia, Brazil – November 23, 2025 – Alberto Scuro, President of the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI), has been elected as the new President of FIVA, the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens, succeeding Tiddo Bresters following the completion of his second three-year term. The announcement came during the 2025 FIVA General Assembly, which was held in a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online participation.
Scuro, a former vascular surgeon and long-standing figure in the historic vehicle community, brings a vision of increased globalization and deeper engagement with FIVA members. Elected to ASI’s Board of Directors in 2011 and ascending to the presidency in 2019, he made the bold move of closing his medical practice to devote himself full-time to the promotion and management of historic vehicles. An active collector and competitor, Scuro has participated in prestigious events such as the Le Mans Classic and the London-to-Brighton run, further cementing his reputation in the international historic vehicle community.
“I am honoured to serve FIVA and look forward to fostering stronger connections between our members worldwide,” Scuro said following his election. He will delegate his duties at ASI to focus entirely on his new role, marking a new chapter in FIVA’s leadership.
The General Assembly also saw significant changes across other key positions within FIVA. Natasa Grom Jerina was elected Senior Vice President for Internal Relations, while Karlheinz Jungbeck of ADAC, the German FIVA national member, succeeded her as Vice President for Youth and Cultural Affairs. Meanwhile, Tiddo Bresters, along with JJ Dolleman and Carlos Scoseria, were elected to the FIVA Arbitration Panel, ensuring continuity in the organisation’s governance.
Several incumbents were re-elected without challenge: Malcolm Grubb remains Vice President for Events, Lars Genild continues as Vice President for Legislation, and Gabriela Magureanu retains her position as Vice President for Membership. Jos Theuns, who also stood as a candidate for the FIVA presidency, will continue his role as Senior Vice President for External Relations.
The 2025 Assembly was notably marked by the exceptional hospitality of its Brazilian hosts, the Federação Brasileira de Veículos Antigos (FBVA), underscoring FIVA’s commitment to fostering a global community of historic vehicle enthusiasts.
Under Scuro’s leadership, FIVA is expected to pursue a renewed focus on member engagement, international collaboration, and the continued celebration of automotive heritage across borders.
