Wolfsburg – June 2025
Volkswagen is reaffirming its commitment to women’s football by returning as an official partner of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, which will take place in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July. In a powerful show of support, the automaker is not only backing the tournament itself but also sponsoring seven of the 16 participating national teams. This continued involvement underscores Volkswagen’s long-term dedication to female empowerment, fair play, and the global promotion of equality in sport.
“As a matter of conviction, we have supported both football of women and women in football for many years now,” said Christine Wolburg, Chief Brand Officer of the Volkswagen brand. “Sponsoring the UEFA Women’s EURO this summer is therefore a further sign of our commitment to visibility, fairness and genuine participation.”
Driving Visibility On and Off the Pitch
More than just a brand badge on the sidelines, Volkswagen’s involvement goes deeper—amplifying both its social values and product strategy. As with the previous tournament in England in 2022, the brand is using its sponsorship to shine a spotlight on its ID. family of all-electric vehicles. The tournament provides a global stage to showcase these models to millions of fans across Europe and beyond, aligning the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility with a broader mission for positive societal change.
Volkswagen’s partnership extends to seven national teams: Germany, Switzerland (the host nation), France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, and Italy. These local sponsorships, facilitated through national Volkswagen importers, ensure a deeply integrated approach, engaging audiences not just during the matches but also through fan-facing initiatives across these football-loving countries.

Elevating the Women’s Game
Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, praised Volkswagen’s return to the pitch: “UEFA is delighted to welcome Volkswagen back as an official UEFA Women’s EURO sponsor. Their continued support demonstrates a shared belief in the power and potential of the women’s game.”
With matches set across eight host cities, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is poised to be the most successful edition yet, promising record-breaking attendance, unprecedented levels of investment, and unparalleled fan engagement.
National team captain and UEFA Women’s EURO ambassador for Volkswagen, Alexandra Popp, reflected on the journey of the women’s game and the role Volkswagen has played: “Football of women has taken a fantastic leap forward in recent years: professionalism, quality and attention have developed extremely positively. Volkswagen has supported us from the very beginning – both at club level with VfL Wolfsburg and also at national level in the German Football Association, and in Europe, as now at the UEFA Women’s EURO. This commitment and this recognition are highly appreciated in the football world.”
From Hashtag to Headline: Making a Statement
Volkswagen’s previous campaign during the 2022 tournament made waves with its bold and thought-provoking slogan: #KeinFrauenfußball – or #NotWomensFootball – challenging the idea that women’s football should be linguistically distinguished from football as a whole. The campaign confronted outdated narratives and helped fuel conversations around equality, respect and representation.
The company’s dedication is not limited to global campaigns. At home, it continues to invest in women’s football through its ownership and support of VfL Wolfsburg’s women’s team—one of the most successful clubs in Europe. The team’s impressive track record includes two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, seven German championships, and eleven German Cup victories.
A United Goal: Progress Through Partnership
Volkswagen’s return to the UEFA Women’s EURO isn’t just about brand visibility—it’s a tangible expression of the company’s ACCELERATE strategy, which seeks to position Volkswagen as the world’s most desirable brand for sustainable mobility. The sponsorship aligns social responsibility with business innovation, reinforcing the idea that performance on the pitch can inspire performance off it.
As the countdown to kick-off continues, Volkswagen’s message is clear: real progress is made not just in goals scored, but in the values shared—equality, sustainability, and belief in the game’s power to unite.
