Kariega – Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) has once again affirmed its commitment to putting people first, earning the prestigious Top Employer certification for the 15th year in a row. The announcement, made on 15 January 2026 by the globally recognised Top Employers Institute, highlights VWGA’s sustained dedication to nurturing talent, fostering wellbeing, and creating an exceptional work environment.
Globally, 2 497 companies achieved Top Employer status this year, with only 154 of these based in South Africa. VWGA is also among 21 Volkswagen Group companies worldwide to receive the certification for 2026, further reinforcing its position as a leader in people management.
The Top Employer evaluation assesses organisations across 20 topics within six key areas: strategy, learning and development, work environment, employee engagement and wellbeing, talent acquisition, and diversity and inclusion. VWGA not only achieved an outstanding score of 97%, but consistently exceeded both national and international benchmarks across every category.
“VWGA is responsible for over 3 500 people, and this certification proves that we take that responsibility seriously,” said Satish Ranchod, HR Director at VWGA. “The Top Employer title is more than a badge; it is a challenge to continually improve how we support and develop our people. I am proud of the people-first culture we actively foster across our workforce.”
With this milestone, VWGA continues to exemplify how sustained investment in employees translates into organisational excellence. The company’s focus on growth, inclusivity, and employee wellbeing sets a benchmark not only within the automotive industry but also across South African business.
As VWGA celebrates its 15th consecutive Top Employer recognition, the achievement serves as a reminder that prioritising people is a long-term strategy – one that drives performance, innovation, and lasting success.
