The UK’s largest motoring event, Motorexpo (11-17 June; motorexpo.com), based at Canary Wharf in London, is gearing up for its greatest show to date.  Organisers are expecting a record 425,000 visitors to view more than 250 cars on display – including a number of vehicles being shown for the first time in the UK.

Among the new production cars making their UK motor show debut at Motorexpo will be Jaguar’s XF Sportbrake premium estate, which was first aired at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and the all-new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, which combines the dynamics of a luxury coupe with the versatility of a four-door vehicle.  Other models aired for the first time at a UK motor show include the Mercedes-Benz A-Class compact car, which will entice buyers with its emotive and dynamic design and powerful and efficient engines, and the all-new second-generation Kia cee’d family car hatchback, which is backed by the manufacturer’s class-leading 7-year Kia warranty.

A stellar line-up of manufacturers will wow the crowds with their latest products, and there truly will be something for everyone.  Brands already confirmed to attend include Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chrysler, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, Vauxhall and Volvo to name just a few.  Many of the cars on show can be driven around the Canary Wharf estate and, for visitors wishing to proceed with a purchase, prices will range from under £8,000 to more than £1m.

Other motoring highlights of the show will include:

  • Aston Martin V8 Vantage coupe and four-door Rapide
  • Bentley Continental GT V8 coupe and Continental GTC V8 convertible
  • Ferrari FF four-seat supercar and convertible California
  • Lamborghini Aventador flagship supercar
  • Land Rover heritage fleet, including the Series 1, and the full current model range
  • Congestion-charge busting Lexus GS450h executive saloon
  • Nissan Leaf all-electric hatchback
  • Tesla Roadster electric sportscar
  • Vauxhall Ampera, boasting a state-of-the art petrol-electric powertrain

Of particular note are the models being displayed – and sold – by auction house H&H Classic Car Auctions.  These include the £1million-plus Lamborghini Reventòn, one of just 12 lightweight E-Type Jaguars and further rare and prestige cars from Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Pagani.

Graeme Carver, Motorexpo CEO, said: “Motorexpo continues to grow year-on-year and this summer’s event is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.  Our roster is brimming with leading mainstream and prestige car manufacturers, and the unmatched promise of being able to get up close to the latest models is going to be a major draw.

“The future looks very bright for Motorexpo.  Helped by the growth of the Canary Wharf estate, we are expecting that by 2020 we will have around 900,000 visitors – making Motorexpo one of the biggest outdoor events in the UK.”

Motorexpo differs from traditional motor shows in that it is free to enter and allows visitors to get up-close to, and even interact with the vehicles.  Most cars on show can be sat in, and as an added attraction, visitors can even get behind the wheel of many vehicles for a full test drive around the Canary Wharf leisure district and the wider public road network.

There are no tickets and no queues, with easy access to the event via one of the wide variety of transport options available.  Visitors can take the bus, London Underground or Docklands Light Railway.  Alternatively, there’s also space for 2,900 cars within Canary Wharf’s four underground public car parks.

Motorexpo is open daily at Canary Wharf from 10am to 6pm (Monday 11 to Saturday 16 June) and 11am to 5pm on Sunday 17 June.  Details on how to get there and information on the show is available at motorexpo.com.
