Thatcham’s Automotive Academy is gearing up to deliver local training and accreditation as the centre takes a new approach to skills development in the UK collision repair sector.

Responding to customer demand for more flexible training delivery, Thatcham are taking their own brand of high quality training and ATA (Automotive Technician Accreditation) direct to UK insurance engineers and repairers, using satellite training facilities to ensure unprecedented local access.

The first satellite training and assessments will take place at the AA Six Hills Training Centre, near Melton Mowbray, where Thatcham will host two VDA (Vehicle Damage Assessor) ATA preparation courses over 3 days, providing underpinning knowledge and followed on the fourth day by the ATA itself, for those not currently in possession of a VDA ATA and who therefore need to take the full assessment. These training and accreditation sessions will run from the 19th and 25th June and with places limited, candidates in the area are being advised to book early.

With direct access to Thatcham instructors, training aids and technology rich course content, delegates on Thatcham’s satellite training days will reap the benefit of the full Thatcham Academy experience, without having to absorb added downtime, travel and accommodation costs.

Academy Business Manager, Clare Ballard, said “Providing easier access to Thatcham’s focused training, which delivers on skills and value is a key part of our overall strategy. We want to enable insurers and bodyshops to choose the delivery format that suits their technicians’ learning styles and best meets their business needs, whilst ensuring that they still have access to the very latest techniques and information from the UK’s most experienced instructors. This is just the start of our satellite training plans as we look to provide a nationwide Thatcham Academy experience.”

Training delegates interested in attending this VDA course should contact the Thatcham Academy team on 01635 293 174.
