Middleburg, October 27, 2024 – A spirited display of both vintage automotive mastery and modern racing prowess unfolded in Washington DC as the defending champions of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA 2024 claimed victory in an intense three-day competition. In a series of races set against the scenic autumnal beauty of the Middleburg countryside, Shawn and Leanne Till, piloting a 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Zagato, emerged victorious yet again, reinforcing their status as icons of the rally. The Tills also dominated the Middleburg Trophy – a one-on-one duel staged in the heart of town – earning cheers from enthusiastic spectators who watched as seconds determined victory in the tight eliminations.
The event’s high-stakes competition drew in a blend of seasoned racers and novices, each vying for the coveted slots in the 1000 Miglia 2025. In the Veteran category, for the era encompassing the original 1000 Miglia years, Stephen and Kim Bruno secured their place in a 1955 Mercedes 300 SL, while the Novice class saw recognition for two teams: Paterniti and Wilson in a 1954 Jaguar XK 120, and Luther and Meldau, who took the wheel of a 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Super Speed. For those racing in the Post 1000 Miglia Era Class, Cereghini and Lersner’s 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo and Robinson and Woodward’s 1967 Porsche 912 carried them to victory, ensuring their spots among next year’s 1000 Miglia participants.

The 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA has established itself as a premier rally that flawlessly merges rigorous sportsmanship with the charm of Italian heritage. Time Trials and Average Trials, complemented by the stunning backdrop of an unexpected Indian Summer, provided ideal racing conditions that drew sizable crowds along each stage. Fans and onlookers were treated to thrilling moments like the night-time Time Trials at Atoka Chase and the nail-biting head-to-head Middleburg Trophy duel.
The rally offered a uniquely American twist with a ceremonial lap around some of Washington DC’s most iconic sites, including Capitol Hill, the White House, and the National Mall. The final leg saw participants welcomed at the Italian Embassy by Ambassador Mariangela Zappia, who honored the racers with a reception in true Italian style, celebrating both the timeless allure of the Mille Miglia and the modern partnership between Italian and American automotive enthusiasts.
Once again, the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA proved itself a formidable celebration of vintage automotive culture, bridging nations, generations, and fans of fine motoring in one unforgettable event.
