Durban – Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) celebrated a major milestone on Thursday, 21 August 2025, with the arrival of its first shipment of passenger vehicles at the Durban Port, marking the brand’s official re-entry into the South African automotive market.

The consignment includes the Tiago, Punch, Curvv, and Harrier models, each representing Tata’s commitment to reliability, safety, and affordability. Distribution to dealerships across the country will commence immediately, with nationwide sales scheduled to begin in September.

More than just a product launch, the shipment signals TMPV’s confidence in South Africa’s economic potential and the strength of its automotive sector. The company has also prioritised customer satisfaction with enhanced after-sales support and improved parts availability.

Thato Magasa, CEO of Motus Holding’s TMPV South Africa distribution business, described the occasion as a pivotal moment:

“Today’s arrival at Durban Port is more than just the delivery of vehicles – it’s the start of a new chapter for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles in South Africa. This shipment demonstrates our belief in the market, our commitment to customers, and our readiness to contribute to economic growth through local partnerships and job creation.”

The event also reinforced Durban Port’s crucial role as a hub for international trade and industrial development.
