Industry veteran to take the helm from 1 July 2025, as Gideon Jansen Van Rensburg steps into new Motus SA Retail leadership role
Johannesburg, 07 May 2025 – Hyundai Automotive South Africa has officially announced the appointment of Stanley Anderson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2025. Anderson will succeed Gideon Jansen Van Rensburg, who transitions to the role of Chief Executive Officer of Motus SA Retail on the same date.
Anderson is no stranger to the Hyundai brand. Currently serving as Sales and Operations Director, he has played a pivotal role in Hyundai’s sustained growth within the South African market. His appointment as CEO marks the continuation of a 24-year journey with the company, defined by strategic insight, leadership continuity and an unwavering commitment to the brand.

“I am humbly honoured to be given this huge responsibility of leading Hyundai Automotive South Africa at such a pivotal time in the South African automotive industry. I am cognizant of the challenges that lie ahead but equally embrace and look forward to leading a group of hardworking, talented and committed Hyundai Automotive South Africa team members,” said Anderson in a statement.
A seasoned executive with more than three decades of experience in the automotive sector, Anderson began his career at Mercedes-Benz South Africa in 1989. Over the span of 11 years, he developed a well-rounded foundation in dealer development, corporate sales, product planning, and marketing. His move to Hyundai Automotive South Africa in early 2001 marked the start of a dynamic chapter – one that saw him appointed as Marketing Director in 2004 and later as Sales and Operations Director in 2015.
During his tenure, Anderson has been instrumental in the successful launch of numerous Hyundai models tailored to the South African market. His deep understanding of consumer behaviour, dealership operations and brand positioning has cemented Hyundai’s reputation as a trusted and innovative player in an increasingly competitive automotive landscape.
As the South African auto industry navigates transformative shifts – from the rise of electric mobility and digital retailing to increasing regulatory and economic pressures – Anderson’s leadership is expected to steer Hyundai with strategic clarity and operational resilience.
With his promotion, Hyundai Automotive South Africa reaffirms its commitment to fostering leadership from within, ensuring that institutional knowledge and brand vision remain deeply embedded as it continues to evolve.
The company also extended its thanks to outgoing CEO Gideon Jansen Van Rensburg for his stewardship and accomplishments. In his new role at Motus SA Retail, he will lead the broader retail operations of the Motus Group, which owns the Hyundai Automotive South Africa franchise.
Anderson’s appointment signals not just a change in leadership, but the beginning of a new chapter in Hyundai’s growth story on South African soil.
