Mladá Boleslav, 18 November 2025 — Škoda’s commitment to uncompromising safety has once again been validated on Europe’s most rigorous stage. The fully electric Škoda Elroq has earned the maximum 5-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP assessment, a benchmark programme renowned for its ever-evolving crash-test standards. In a strong reaffirmation of the brand’s safety DNA, the Škoda Enyaq and Škoda Octavia also retained their top ratings under the notably stricter 2025 testing criteria. This milestone extends an unbroken 17-year streak: every newly developed Škoda model since 2008 has achieved a 5-star rating.
Exceptional Adult Occupant Protection
In the comprehensive Adult Occupant Protection tests, the Elroq achieved an impressive score of 90%, comfortably exceeding the 80% threshold required for the top rating. This category reflects the model’s structural integrity and meticulous energy-management strategies in varied crash scenarios.
The process includes four core impact tests:
– A 50 km/h frontal collision with a moving deformable barrier
– A 50 km/h frontal impact into a rigid wall
– A 60 km/h lateral impact with a mobile barrier
– A 32 km/h side-pole collision
In addition to these physical tests, Euro NCAP evaluates whiplash protection during rear impacts and reviews post-crash safety technologies. The Elroq’s multi-collision brake and automatic window-lowering in submersion scenarios contributed to its strong performance.
Outstanding Protection for Young Passengers
The Elroq continued its strong showing with 87% in Child Occupant Protection. Dummy readings from both frontal and side collisions registered extremely low strain values, earning the vehicle a completely green scorecard in this category.
Euro NCAP also tests child-seat installation and compatibility with widely available seat types, an area in which the Elroq achieved full marks—offering families flexibility as well as peace of mind.
Strong Safeguards for Pedestrians, Cyclists, and Motorcyclists
In the Vulnerable Road User (VRU) Protection category, the Elroq scored 77%, a metric that increasingly reflects the role of advanced driver-assistance and sensor-based technologies.
This year’s test cycle simulates a broader variety of real-world urban and suburban encounters. These include crossing pedestrians, cyclists travelling parallel to traffic, vulnerable road users appearing while the vehicle reverses, and complex detection angles during turning manoeuvres. Each scenario is evaluated in both daylight and low-light conditions.
A notable addition to the 2025 criteria is the “door-opening assist” functionality, which warns occupants if a cyclist or motorcyclist is approaching from behind—helping reduce a common source of urban accidents. Where collisions are unavoidable, impact tests using legform, upper legform, and headform impactors measure the severity of potential injuries.
High Scores in Safety Assist Technology
With a score of 78% in the Safety Assist category, the Elroq demonstrates Škoda’s strong focus on active-safety engineering. Euro NCAP evaluates the likelihood of avoiding or mitigating crashes with other vehicles, along with the responsiveness and accuracy of lane-support systems.
Here, the Elroq achieved maximum points for lane-keeping performance, supported by refined sensors and predictive algorithms.

Enyaq and Octavia Confirm Their Long-Standing Excellence
Škoda’s broader line-up also stood firm against Euro NCAP’s heightened requirements.
The Škoda Enyaq, first tested in 2021, matched its original 5-star result, proving that its engineering remains future-proof even against significantly updated evaluation standards.
The Škoda Octavia, one of the brand’s cornerstone models, achieved its third consecutive 5-star rating. Following previous top scores in 2019 and 2022, it now secures its safety status for the next six years—an impressive testament to the enduring robustness of its platform and technology suite.
Together, the Elroq, Enyaq, and Octavia reinforce Škoda’s leadership in delivering accessible, reliable, and thoroughly tested safety performance across segments.
Euro NCAP’s Role in Shaping Safer Roads
Based in Leuven, Belgium, the European New Car Assessment Programme brings together transport ministries, insurance bodies, research institutes, and mobility organisations from ten European countries. Since its establishment in 1997, it has become the most influential independent authority on vehicle safety, raising consumer expectations and encouraging industry-wide advancements.
Euro NCAP evaluates adult and child protection, vulnerable road user mitigation, and the breadth and performance of active-safety systems. Vehicles are assessed according to the minimum safety equipment available across the EU27, the UK, and Norway. Since 2020, its requirement-tightening cycle every three years has significantly contributed to reducing road-accident severity across the region.
A Continuum of Safety Innovation
Škoda’s uninterrupted streak of 5-star results since 2008 reflects more than engineering precision—it highlights a philosophy built around holistic safety, from passive chassis strength to increasingly intelligent assistance systems.
With the Elroq joining the roster of top-rated models, and both the Enyaq and Octavia reaffirming their excellence under tougher scrutiny, Škoda continues to strengthen its position as one of the most safety-focused manufacturers in Europe’s evolving mobility landscape.
