Mladá Boleslav, 18 November 2025 – Škoda has reaffirmed its position among Europe’s safest car brands as the fully electric Škoda Elroq receives the maximum 5-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP assessment. Despite the more stringent 2025 protocols, the Elroq delivered a convincing performance across all key areas of testing. Škoda’s popular Enyaq and the long-standing Octavia have also confirmed their top ratings this year, strengthening a remarkable run: every newly developed Škoda model since 2008 has achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP score.

Strong Adult Occupant Protection With 90% Score

The Elroq impressed in Adult Occupant Protection, scoring 90%, significantly above the 80% threshold for a top rating. The model was evaluated across four demanding crash scenarios:

  • A 50 km/h frontal impact with a moving deformable barrier
  • A 50 km/h frontal impact into a rigid wall
  • A 60 km/h lateral impact with a mobile barrier
  • A 32 km/h side-pole test simulating a collision with a narrow object

Euro NCAP also assessed rear-impact whiplash protection and post-crash safety technologies. The Elroq’s safety suite includes features such as a multi-collision brake and automatic window lowering in submersion scenarios, contributing to its strong result.

Outstanding Child Occupant Protection

In Child Occupant Protection, the Elroq achieved 87%, recording exceptionally low strain values for child dummies in both frontal and side impact tests. The vehicle scored maximum points for the installation, compatibility, and securing of child seats, ensuring families benefit from both strong structural protection and seamless day-to-day usability.

Comprehensive VRU Protection With Advanced Sensors

The Elroq secured 77% in Vulnerable Road User (VRU) Protection, reflecting robust performance in safeguarding pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. This category heavily emphasises accident prevention through advanced sensor technology. Škoda engineers optimised the Elroq to perform reliably in diverse real-world conditions, from crossing pedestrians to cyclists moving longitudinally, as well as detection during turning and reversing manoeuvres — all tested in both daylight and low-visibility conditions.

A key addition under the 2025 criteria is the “door-opening assist,” which warns occupants of approaching cyclists or motorcyclists before they exit the vehicle. When accidents cannot be avoided, impactors replicating child and adult heads, upper legs, and lower legs measure injury severity, where the Elroq again performed strongly.

High Safety Assist Score Reinforces Collision Avoidance Capabilities

In the Safety Assist category, the Elroq earned 78%, showcasing the capability and reliability of its driver-assistance systems. These evaluations covered collision avoidance at various speeds and conditions, as well as the performance of lane-keeping technologies. The Elroq collected full points for its lane-support features, further reinforcing confidence in its day-to-day safety performance.

Enyaq and Octavia Maintain Top Ratings

Škoda’s safety credentials extend beyond its latest EV. The Škoda Enyaq matched its original 2021 5-star score under this year’s stricter conditions, while the Škoda Octavia successfully completed its third Euro NCAP assessment. After earning 5 stars in 2019 and 2022, the Octavia has once again demonstrated long-term consistency, securing another maximum rating that will remain valid for the next six years.

Together, the Elroq, Enyaq, and Octavia cement Škoda’s standing as one of the most dependable brands in vehicle safety.

Euro NCAP: Europe’s Benchmark for Safety

Euro NCAP, founded in 1997 and headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, is a consortium of transport ministries, automotive clubs, insurance associations, and research institutes from ten European countries. It remains the continent’s most influential safety authority, evaluating adult and child protection, vulnerable road-user safety, and active-safety technologies based on standard equipment supplied across the EU27, the UK, and Norway.

With a commitment to raising the bar, Euro NCAP has tightened its testing criteria every three years since 2020, driving continuous innovation among automakers and contributing to declining road-accident rates across Europe.
