In a strategic move to optimize production capabilities, Škoda Auto has commenced the assembly of additional units of the updated Škoda Octavia at its Kvasiny plant. This initiative comes as a response to the ongoing high demand for the brand’s bestseller and marks a significant milestone in the carmaker’s production strategy.
The Kvasiny plant, which already manufactures the Škoda Karoq and Kodiaq SUV models, has now been tasked with the production of the fourth-generation Škoda Octavia, a model that has been a cornerstone of Škoda’s lineup since its first modern iteration rolled off the line in 1996. The move to Kvasiny was made possible by transferring the production of the new-generation Superb to Volkswagen’s Bratislava facility, thereby freeing up capacity at Kvasiny for the Octavia.
This strategic expansion allows Škoda to continue producing the Octavia at its main facility in Mladá Boleslav while utilizing the full potential of its flexible production network. According to Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, “By producing additional units of the Škoda Octavia at our Kvasiny plant, we are making efficient use of our flexible production network and fully utilizing the capacities of our plants. In addition to comprehensively preparing for the production launch of additional Octavia units at Kvasiny, we have established a training centre providing the ideal setting to further train and upskill our team. I sincerely thank everyone involved in this project for their effort and dedication throughout the process.”

A Training Hub for the Future
To support this expansion, Škoda has established a state-of-the-art training centre at the Kvasiny plant. This facility is equipped with advanced technology, including three robotic workstations for practical training and two classrooms for theoretical instruction. The training centre is tailored to meet the needs of workers at different learning levels, ensuring that the team is fully prepared to handle the production of the updated Octavia.
A Model with a Legacy
The Škoda Octavia has been a significant model in the brand’s history, with approximately 7.5 million units produced since its modern reintroduction in 1996. The first modern-generation Octavia, developed under the Volkswagen Group’s umbrella, set the stage for a series of advancements in the model’s design and technology.
The second-generation Octavia, produced between 2004 and 2013, featured upgraded engines, enhanced technology, and a more robust body. The third-generation model, introduced on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB A platform, offered increased boot capacity and optional LED technology in its 2017 update.
The current, fourth-generation Octavia debuted in November 2019, built on the updated MQB platform. It boasts a range of features, including mild-hybrid technology, all-wheel drive options, and the integration of ChatGPT into the voice assistant, Laura. This model was comprehensively updated in spring 2024, with a refreshed design, second-generation Matrix-LED headlights, and enhanced safety and comfort features.
With the production of additional units at Kvasiny, Škoda continues to solidify the Octavia’s position as a leader in the brand’s lineup, ensuring that it remains a popular choice for drivers worldwide.
