Oxford Street is about to swap shopping bags for charge cables as Renault returns to London with its most ambitious retail activation yet. From 18th to 26th April, Future Stores will be transformed into a living, breathing electric stage for Maison Renault, an immersive brand experience that blends heritage, performance and the future of compact mobility.
At the heart of the showcase is a moment the UK has never seen before: the first public appearance of a near-production version of the extraordinary Renault 5 Turbo 3E. With its extreme performance credentials and dramatic design language, it reimagines what a compact electric car can be. Only 1,980 units will be produced, a nod to the original Turbo era, and with a 555 hp electric drivetrain and a top speed approaching 170 mph, it sits firmly in “mini supercar” territory rather than conventional EV thinking.
The experience takes place at the iconic Future Stores on Oxford Street, which will be reshaped into a multi-sensory environment where visitors can move between physical cars, digital installations and interactive storytelling zones. Large-format displays, design deep dives and live entertainment aim to turn the space into something closer to a gallery of electric ideas than a traditional showroom.
Alongside the headline act, visitors will be able to explore the full new compact EV family that defines Renault’s current design and technology direction. The Renault 5 E-Tech electric, already widely recognised for its blend of retro-futuristic styling and everyday usability, is joined by the Renault 4 E-Tech electric, which reinterprets one of the brand’s most iconic practical models for a new generation of urban drivers. Completing the line-up is the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric, affectionately known as “Le Frog”, whose playful proportions and expressive design bring a lighter, more characterful energy to city mobility.
The Twingo’s appearance marks its return from an earlier stop at Renault’s Battersea retail concept, rnlt, continuing its journey across Europe as a symbol of compact electric fun. Its presence in London reinforces the brand’s strategy of making EVs not only efficient and accessible, but also emotionally engaging.
Adding a competitive edge to the experience, visitors will also be able to step into a driving simulator that recreates the intensity of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E. Professional driver and automotive influencer Becky Evans, also known as “Queen B”, will set the benchmark lap on opening day. Guests are then invited to challenge her time, with the fastest driver across the week winning tickets to Goodwood, while daily prizes will be awarded for standout performances.
This blend of physical exhibition and virtual competition reflects Renault’s broader approach: merging accessibility with aspiration. The brand’s compact EV range already enjoys strong critical recognition, and Maison Renault builds on the success of earlier London activations such as Maison 5 and Maison 4, which helped bring the marque’s electric vision directly to the public in increasingly immersive ways.
David Isherwood, Marketing Director at Renault UK, describes the showcase as a way to bring the brand’s electric strategy into direct contact with the public, highlighting how each model carries its own identity while contributing to a broader vision of more desirable, more exciting and more accessible electric mobility.
With thousands of visitors expected across the week, Maison Renault positions itself not just as a product showcase, but as a cultural moment on one of the world’s most famous shopping streets. It is where design nostalgia meets electric ambition, and where Renault’s compact future is put firmly in the spotlight.
