Renault took centre stage at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, thrilling an estimated 200,000 attendees with a dynamic blend of heritage, innovation, and electric performance. From the long-anticipated UK debut of the all-new Renault 4 E-Tech electric to the show-stopping return of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E concept, the French marque’s stand offered a compelling look at the future of electrified motoring—while paying homage to some of its most iconic nameplates.
Renault 4 E-Tech Electric: A Modern Classic Reborn
The star attraction was the all-new Renault 4 E-Tech electric, making its first UK appearance ahead of customer orders officially opening. Priced from £26,995, the award-winning model impressed onlookers with its seamless blend of retro-inspired design and modern electric performance. Fresh from winning TopGear.com’s Electric Car of the Year and Auto Express’s Small SUV of the Year, the Renault 4 E-Tech ran the famous hillclimb course and drew large crowds at the static display.
Echoing the spirit of the original Renault 4, the new E-Tech model offers increased ground clearance, a comfort-optimised suspension setup, and clever packaging that results in generous cabin space. Design cues such as the illuminated single-piece grille and distinctive three-part rear light clusters nod affectionately to the past while projecting a bold electric future.
Renault 5 E-Tech Electric: Colourful, Charismatic, and a Market Hit
Joining the Renault 4 was its sibling, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric, which dazzled crowds in its pop! Yellow and pop! Green colourways. Priced from £22,995, the Renault 5 E-Tech has rapidly become one of the UK’s best-selling private electric vehicles since customer deliveries began in April 2025.
Already a multi-award winner and available to test drive at all UK Renault retailers, the Renault 5 E-Tech continues to resonate with drivers looking for an affordable, stylish, and engaging zero-emissions hatchback. Its appearance at Goodwood reaffirmed its status as a cornerstone of Renault’s electrification strategy.

Renault 5 Turbo 3E: From Concept to Reality
Also making its UK debut was a full-scale design model of the production-bound Renault 5 Turbo 3E—a modern-day electric tribute to the legendary Renault 5 Turbo of the 1980s. With just 1,980 individually numbered units set to be built (a nod to the Turbo’s original 1980 launch year), the ultra-exclusive model will be priced from £140,000.
Delivering 555 hp and an astonishing 4,800 Nm of torque from dual in-wheel rear motors, the Turbo 3E is set to become the most powerful road car ever developed by Renault Group. Weighing just 1,450 kg, it’s expected to sprint from 0–62 mph in under 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 167 mph when it enters production in 2027.
“Drifter” Returns to the Hill
For many fans, the highlight of the weekend was the return of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E concept—nicknamed Drifter—to the hillclimb course. A fan favourite since its dramatic debut at Goodwood in 2023, the concept car again proved its mettle with a dynamic run up the hill, this time joined by a Renault 5 Maxi Turbo from the 1980s. Together, they delivered a masterclass in old-meets-new performance, delighting crowds with power slides and pirouettes.
A Salute to Renault’s Racing Pedigree
Renault’s display wasn’t limited to electric innovation. Paying tribute to its illustrious motorsport legacy, the stand also featured three legendary Formula One cars: the 1978 RS10 once piloted by Jean-Pierre Jabouille, the RE40 driven by Alain Prost, and the B195 chassis driven by Michael Schumacher. While static, the presence of these machines underscored Renault’s enduring commitment to motorsport excellence.
Renault’s multi-layered showcase at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed was more than a brand display—it was a vivid celebration of past, present, and future. With the launch-ready Renault 4 E-Tech electric, the show-stopping Renault 5 E-Tech, and the jaw-dropping Turbo 3E all taking the spotlight, Renault once again demonstrated why it remains at the forefront of innovation and emotional connection in the electric age.
