Renault is kicking off 2026 with a bang, as its latest electric innovation and long-standing small car icon scoop prestigious accolades at the cinch 2025 Car of the Year Awards. Only days after its global debut in Paris, the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric has already been named one of the ‘Most Anticipated Cars of 2026’, while the ever-popular Renault Clio has retained its crown as ‘Best Hatchback of the Year’ for the second consecutive year.
The recognition highlights Renault’s dual focus on innovation and excellence, offering drivers a choice of cutting-edge electric and hybrid-powered vehicles without compromising on style or practicality.
“Who doesn’t love a Twingo?” said Ben Welham, Senior Content Producer at cinch. “It’s a car with so much charm, and the fact it’s coming back is tremendous news. It’s competitively priced, loaded with goodies and looks a picture. We can’t wait to drive it.”
The new Twingo E-Tech electric captures the spirit of the first-generation icon, blending playful design, clever modularity, and zero-emission urban performance. Despite its compact footprint, it offers a surprisingly spacious interior and a host of advanced connected features, including the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in. With a launch price expected at under £20,000, the Twingo promises to make electric mobility more accessible than ever.
Meanwhile, the Renault Clio continues to dominate the small car segment. Ben Welham highlighted the model’s enduring appeal: “The Renault Clio has long been a popular hatchback here at cinch. We love its versatility, affordability and all-round driving experience. The current Clio is a superb small car and it makes us even more excited for the upcoming 2027 model, which retains a manual gearbox. Bravo!”
The Clio offers a choice of powertrains, including Renault’s innovative full hybrid, and combines bold styling with a modern digital experience. Its well-equipped three-model line-up, topped by the sporty esprit Alpine trim, starts from just £18,995 OTR.
Adam Wood, Managing Director of Renault Group UK, said: “It’s brilliant to see Twingo lift its first trophy just days after it was officially revealed. This award shows just how Twingo’s unique combination of design appeal, versatility and accessibility is creating excitement about a bright future for EVs. We are also proud to see Clio’s best-in-class credentials recognised by cinch, highlighting the market-leading strength of Renault’s small car range.”
With Twingo E-Tech electric already generating buzz and Clio continuing to set the benchmark for small hatchbacks, Renault demonstrates once again that it is a brand committed to delivering innovation, practicality, and driving pleasure for every type of motorist.
