The engines roar to life at Donington Park on the 4th and 5th of May as the Donington Historic Festival brings an electrifying collection of historic racing cars to one of the most anticipated events on the classic motorsport calendar.
This family-oriented festival is a spectacle of automotive history, featuring an array of Touring Cars from the 1960s through the 1980s, breathtaking sportscars from the 1950s and 60s, GT cars, sports-racers, and even venerable pre-War sportscars that date back over a century. The event is structured with a packed schedule that ensures non-stop action and includes three special races exclusively for Ferrari models. Despite their age and value, the drivers compete fiercely, providing thrilling high-speed contests that captivate the audience.
Each day of the festival is distinct, offering a world-class lineup of classic motor racing. Many races feature two-driver teams, requiring strategic pit stops and driver changes, adding to the excitement. This year, the festival also honors the centenary of Bentley’s first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with special lunchtime displays of legendary Bentley racers, including the 2003 Speed 8 and the 2000 EXP Speed 8 Le Mans GT prototype.

Moreover, the event features parades of classic cars from nearly 60 car clubs, with special appearances by Ferraris, Honda NSXs in homage to Ayrton Senna, and classic Ford Mustangs celebrating their 60th anniversary. The skies above Donington will also thrill spectators with afternoon flypasts by the iconic Spitfire and Hurricane from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Beyond the track, the festival offers a multitude of activities and displays. Notable events include Q&A sessions with 2003 Le Mans winner Guy Smith and touring car legends Rob Huff and Colin Turkington. Fans have the opportunity to explore the open-access Paddock, experience the raw power of the engines up close, take selfies with their favorite cars, and even participate in charity Dream Rides through the Sporting Bears Motor Club.
Additionally, the festival boasts an art exhibition featuring leading British motoring artists, a display of memorabilia from the Donington Park archive, and the chance to meet ‘Old Tom’, the historic steam roller involved in building the original track.
Tickets are available at a discounted rate until 4 PM on Thursday, 2nd May, after which they can be purchased at the gate. For more information and to secure your tickets, visit www.doningtonhistoric.com.
