On 28th March 2024, from Gothenburg, Sweden, an announcement was made about the launch of a groundbreaking public EV charging solution named Polestar Charge, a collaboration between Polestar and Plugsurfing. This innovative service unites over 650,000 charging stations under one umbrella, creating the most extensive network available to electric vehicle owners in Europe. Notable networks such as Tesla Supercharger, IONITY, Recharge, Total, Fastned, and Allego are now accessible via the Polestar Charge platform.
Marking a significant achievement for Polestar, it becomes the first European automotive manufacturer to incorporate the Tesla Supercharger network into its proprietary charging service, thereby providing its customers with broad access to Tesla’s acclaimed charging facilities. This initiative builds on the 2023 move by Polestar to integrate Tesla’s NACS in North America and extends similar privileges to Polestar vehicle owners in over 200 cities across China.

Previously, since 2020, owners of the Polestar 2 in Europe have enjoyed access and special rates within the Plugsurfing network. The introduction of Polestar Charge is set to elevate the charging experience for Polestar owners, timed perfectly with the forthcoming deliveries of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, the brand’s new entries into the luxury electric performance SUV market.
Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath stressed the critical nature of hassle-free charging for electric vehicle users. He pointed out the synergy between accessing a vast network of charging points and the convenience offered through Google Maps integration, which includes planning efficient charging stops and activating battery pre-conditioning to enhance charging speed. This approach aims at simplifying the public charging process by eliminating the clutter of multiple memberships, applications, authentication steps, and charging tokens, thereby enhancing the overall experience of electric mobility for Polestar customers.
