London, UK – 9 August 2025: Nissan has confirmed that two of its flagship electric vehicles — the all-new Nissan Micra and the Nissan Ariya — now qualify for the UK Government’s newly launched Electric Car Grant. Announced in July 2025, the initiative offers a £1,500 reduction on the purchase price of eligible EVs, making the transition to zero-emission driving more accessible for UK motorists.
Micra: Affordability Meets Innovation
The sixth-generation Nissan Micra has been reimagined as a fully electric city car, combining everyday practicality with advanced technology. With the grant applied, prices now start at just £21,495 for the 40kWh Engage model, bringing cutting-edge EV ownership within reach of more drivers.
Boasting a range of up to 260 miles (WLTP) and seamless integration of Google Built-in and the NissanConnect Services app, the new Micra delivers an intuitive driving experience for the connected age. With a legacy of more than six million units sold globally, this latest iteration is a cornerstone of Nissan’s electrification strategy, proving that compact cars can be both sustainable and sophisticated.
100% Electric Micra Pricing (including £1,500 grant):
- Engage: 40kWh – £21,495
- Advanced: 40kWh – £23,495 | 52kWh – £25,495
- Evolve: 52kWh – £28,365

Ariya: Premium Zero-Emission Performance
From Wednesday 13 August, the award-winning Nissan Ariya will also benefit from the £1,500 grant when revised range pricing is revealed. The Ariya blends sleek, aerodynamic styling with a spacious, high-tech interior and powerful electric performance — positioning it as a flagship model for drivers who demand zero-emission capability without compromising on refinement or driving pleasure.
LEAF: A British-Built Return
Later in the year, Nissan will welcome the next-generation LEAF back into its UK line-up, with an expected £3,750 Electric Car Grant — the highest available under the new scheme. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
The LEAF holds a special place in EV history as both Nissan’s first electric vehicle and the first mass-market EV to launch in the UK. Production of the new model, including its advanced battery systems, will take place at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, underlining the brand’s commitment to British manufacturing and sustainable mobility.
Nissan’s Electrified Future
James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB, said:
“With the grant confirmed today, we are thrilled to see Micra and Ariya becoming even better value for our customers. Micra will now start at a highly competitive £21,495 and will be available to order from next month. This will be joined by three new models including the third-generation British-built LEAF later this year and the Juke in 2026, also coming from our Sunderland plant. We can’t wait to see the reactions of UK customers as they get to experience these exciting fully electric new cars.”
With the Electric Car Grant in place, Nissan’s growing EV line-up promises to give UK drivers more choice, better value, and a clear path towards a cleaner, electrified future.
