Johannesburg – Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA) recently honoured excellence across its nationwide dealer network at a prestigious awards ceremony that celebrated outstanding achievement, resilience, and customer-centric service. Topping the accolades was Mitsubishi Motors East London, which proudly walked away with the coveted 2025 Dealer of the Year Award, a title that speaks volumes about their consistent performance, service excellence and dedication to the brand.
This annual event, which spotlights top performers across the Mitsubishi Motors dealership network, forms part of a rigorous and holistic evaluation process. Dealerships are assessed across multiple key performance indicators including sales volumes, parts sales, customer satisfaction, and aftersales service excellence.
“Our dealers are the lifeblood of our brand,” said Francois Gultig, General Manager of Sales and Operations at MMSA. “Many of them have stood with us through both challenges and successes, always representing Mitsubishi with professionalism and passion. These awards are a testament to their hard work and commitment.”
A National Celebration of Excellence
The event served as a powerful recognition of the individuals and teams that continue to elevate the Mitsubishi customer experience. From sales to service and beyond, the awards cast a spotlight on the people driving the brand forward.
At the top of the leaderboard was Mitsubishi Motors East London, which claimed the Dealer of the Year title — an accolade that recognises consistent and outstanding performance across all evaluated criteria. With strong showings in sales, customer satisfaction, and aftersales support, the dealership continues to set a national benchmark.
Other standout performers included:
- Mitsubishi Motors The Glen, Mobeni, and Empangeni for achieving the highest percentages in sales vs. targets.
- Mitsubishi Motors George, East Rand, and East London again, for leading in overall retail unit sales.
- Mitsubishi Motors Umhlanga, Mobeni, and Middelburg took top honours in the fleet sales categories.
Individuals Who Make the Difference
At the heart of every dealership are the individuals who bring the Mitsubishi experience to life. In a hotly contested field, several professionals earned individual accolades:
- Megan Moonsamy of Mitsubishi Motors Umhlanga took top honours in the large dealer category for Sales Executive of the Year.
- In the medium category, Sipho Makuliwe (East London) and James Motlanthe (Hatfield) shared the win, with the award marking a fitting tribute to Motlanthe as he enters retirement.
- MG Laubscher from Mitsubishi Motors George earned top honours in the small dealer segment.

Service Excellence Recognised on a Global Stage
The commitment to customer care extended far beyond the showroom floor. Mitsubishi Motors South Africa’s impressive performance was recognised internationally when it received the Top Performer Award in After Sales – Customer Experience at the brand’s annual global aftersales conference in Thailand. Measured through the KANTAR Competitive Base CSI Program, this award underscores the global standard MMSA sets in aftersales service.
Steven Terblans, General Manager of Aftersales at MMSA, remarked: “Our aftersales teams are critical to building lasting relationships with our customers. These awards celebrate the tireless effort and dedication of those who work behind the scenes to keep our customers safe and satisfied.”
Among those recognised were:
- Service Advisors: Gerard Peterson and Jan Lottering (Menlyn), and Natasha Slater (Kimberley), all honoured with Diamond Service Awards for national and international CSI.
- Parts Managers: Grant Collinicos (Paarden Eiland), Lindiwe Mokoena (Bedfordview), and Charmaine Werner (George).
- Service Managers: Kallie Landsberg (Menlyn), Victor Thom (Bedfordview), and Terrence Moodley (Pietermaritzburg).
A Regional Footprint of Excellence
Mitsubishi’s success was not confined to South Africa. On a regional level, Mitsubishi Motors Mozambique and Zambia were awarded as top-performing export dealers, while Mitsubishi Zimbabwe earned recognition as the most improved regional partner — all a testament to the brand’s growing strength across Southern Africa.
Looking Ahead: Excitement on the Dealer Floor
As the brand celebrates these achievements, there’s an air of excitement across Mitsubishi showrooms. With the arrival of new models like the bold Triton bakkie, the sleek Outlander, and the upcoming Xpander Cross, dealers are gearing up for a dynamic year ahead.
“We are thrilled about the product lineup that’s now rolling into our showrooms,” concluded Gultig. “These awards energise our network to deliver the outstanding experiences our customers expect, from first test drive to long-term service. We look forward to what lies ahead.”
