At the Dörr Group Trackday held at Hockenheimring, Germany, on June 8th, 2024, the McMurtry Spéirling PURE hyper-track car achieved an impressive lap time of 1:24.43. Driven by former F1 driver Max Chilton, this record-setting performance marks a significant milestone in closed-wheel car racing at Hockenheimring, surpassing the fastest DTM Qualifying time in 2020 by 3.907 seconds and the production car record by a staggering 14.1 seconds, previously held by the Mercedes-AMG One.
The event not only showcased the Spéirling PURE’s prowess but also marked its European dynamic debut, attracting track-driving enthusiasts from across the continent. Priced starting at £895,000 plus taxes and delivery, the McMurtry Spéirling PURE exemplifies cutting-edge automotive engineering with its 1000bhp electric powertrain and innovative downforce-on-demand system.

Throughout the event, McMurtry pushed the Spéirling PURE to 75% of its maximum capability, testing and validating its performance across various circuits and climates. Future plans include further record attempts worldwide in 2024 and 2025, aiming to achieve 100% power and downforce settings.
Max Chilton, reflecting on the Spéirling PURE’s performance, highlighted the car’s ability to deliver exhilarating track experiences akin to those in Formula 1. He noted the car’s exceptional grip and handling, essential for achieving such impressive lap times on iconic tracks like Hockenheimring.
