The UK fleet landscape is about to welcome a familiar name in a completely new form as the Mazda6e enters the market this summer, reimagining the much-loved Mazda6 as a fully electric saloon built for the next era of company car mobility. Positioned with Takumi and Takumi Plus grades, the new model arrives with pricing set at £38,995 and £39,995 respectively, pairing premium design with a simplified, single 78kWh battery specification tailored specifically for UK customers.
Revealed at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show and already on sale across Europe since last autumn, the Mazda6e brings together elegant saloon proportions and the practicality of a hatchback, aiming to strike a balance that fleet drivers increasingly demand. It carries forward the legacy of the Mazda6, a model that earned strong recognition in the UK fleet sector across three generations between 2002 and 2023, while reshaping it for a battery electric future defined by refinement, efficiency and everyday usability.
Early momentum is already building ahead of first deliveries. According to CAP Gold Book April data, the Mazda6e delivers a class-leading residual value prediction of 58.3 per cent, outperforming key segment rivals including the Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal, Polestar 2 and Volkswagen ID.7. For fleet decision makers, that kind of retained value is more than a headline figure; it is a signal of long-term cost stability, a critical factor in today’s tightly managed company car policies.
Mazda UK’s fleet team has been actively introducing the model to the market ahead of launch, with 30 leasing companies and more than 120 end-user customer firms already experiencing the car in person. The response, according to early feedback, has been particularly strong around monthly costs, interior quality, styling and the practicality of its hatchback layout. The Mazda6e will also take centre stage at the Great British Fleet Event in Milton Keynes, giving it exposure to an even broader professional audience as anticipation builds.
Under the skin, the UK specification simplifies the European powertrain offering into a single 78kWh LFP battery that delivers a WLTP range of 348 miles. Fast charging capability allows a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in just 24 minutes using a 195kW DC charger, while 258ps of rear-wheel drive performance ensures a confident drive with 0 to 62mph achieved in 7.9 seconds. With 290Nm of torque, the model is designed to feel composed and responsive in real-world driving conditions rather than just on paper.
Design remains a defining pillar of the Mazda6e’s appeal. Guided by the philosophy of “Electrifying Design Crafted to Perfection,” it evolves Mazda’s Kodo Soul of Motion language into a cleaner, more futuristic expression. A low roofline and coupe-like silhouette give it a dynamic stance, while maintaining the usability of a five-door hatchback. Frameless doors, a glowing front signature wing that responds during charging, and a distinctive rear light bar create a visual identity that feels both modern and unmistakably Mazda. Even details such as aerodynamically optimised 19-inch wheels and an extendable rear spoiler reflect a focus on both form and function.
Inside, the cabin is shaped around a sense of calm and spaciousness inspired by the Japanese concept of “Ma,” where space itself becomes part of the design experience. A panoramic roof enhances natural light, while a floating centre console and minimalist dashboard architecture reinforce the feeling of openness. Takumi models feature black or stone Maztex upholstery, while Takumi Plus elevates the experience further with tan Nappa leather and suede cloth seat finishes, reinforcing its premium positioning within the segment.
Technology is equally central to the cabin experience, with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an augmented reality head-up display forming a driver-focused digital environment. Together, these elements support Mazda’s long-standing emphasis on driving engagement while embracing the expectations of modern electric mobility.
Speaking on the model’s fleet relevance, Mazda UK Head of Fleet Steve Tomlinson highlighted the strength of the residual value performance and the broader appeal of the car’s design, technology and value proposition. He emphasised that the Mazda6e represents a key addition to Mazda’s multi-solution strategy, which spans mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric models, and noted strong early reactions from leasing companies and customers alike.
With orders already open and first UK deliveries expected this summer, the Mazda6e marks a significant step in Mazda’s electrification journey. Later in the year, attention will turn to the arrival of the all-new Mazda CX-6e SUV, signalling the next chapter in the brand’s expanding BEV portfolio and reinforcing its intent to remain a serious contender in the evolving fleet and corporate mobility space.
