As South African organisations return from the festive season, MasterDrive is ready to hit the ground running, supporting businesses with their road safety and driver training initiatives throughout 2026.
Eugene Herbert, CEO of MasterDrive, says the organisation is entering the new year with strong momentum. “We are looking forward to building on the foundation we have established and continuing our work with organisations across South Africa to improve road safety standards. We anticipate that 2026 will be rich with potential for further promotion of road safety,” he explains.
Herbert emphasises that driver training is far more than a compliance requirement. “Companies that prioritise driver training are not just ticking a box; they are building safer, more capable teams who can navigate our roads with confidence. This investment reflects an organisation’s values and positions them as leaders in workplace safety.”
MasterDrive encourages businesses to approach the year thoughtfully. “Take stock of what you learned in 2025, including both the wins and the setbacks, and use those insights to shape your road safety strategy for the year ahead,” Herbert advises.
Acknowledging ongoing challenges, Herbert notes: “Economic pressures, particularly rising fuel costs, continue to impact operational budgets. Add to that the potential for protest action, and it becomes clear that fleet managers need contingency plans. Being proactive rather than reactive, by equipping drivers for whatever they may encounter, will make all the difference.”
The year ahead promises an exciting MasterDrive calendar. “Our Women with Drive event celebrates its tenth year, while the Fleet Safety Awards and other road safety initiatives are growing in influence and engagement. Enthusiasm for these events is rising steadily, and we look forward to taking them to the next level in 2026,” Herbert says.
Organisations that plan their training early are set to benefit the most. “Let’s make 2026 a landmark year for road safety. We are here to support you every step of the way and look forward to achieving meaningful progress together,” Herbert concludes.
January also brings an opportunity to engage with MasterDrive’s Lunch & Learn sessions. The upcoming session, ‘Hijack Awareness and Prevention – Staying Safe in 2026,’ will focus on security and vigilance as drivers return to regular routes.
