Misano Adriatico, 20 July 2025 — Maserati Corse delivered a commanding performance on home soil at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli during Round 4 of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli, claiming two overall runner-up finishes, a pole position, and dominant victories in both the Am and Pro-Am classes. The weekend was marked not only by on-track success but also by heartfelt remembrance, as the team dedicated the results to the late Claudio Bortoletto – a stalwart of Italian motorsport and a cherished member of the Maserati family.
Prette’s Dominance in the Am Cup
Philippe Prette, piloting LP Racing’s number 1 Maserati GT2, was in scintillating form across the weekend. The veteran driver set the tone in Race 1 by securing overall pole position and leading confidently through the first half of the race. Despite eventually yielding the lead to a Pro driver with just minutes to go, Prette held strong to finish second overall while taking a convincing win in the Am Cup.
In Sunday’s Race 2, starting sixth on the grid but once again on pole in class, Prette executed a flawless race. He led the Am Cup from start to finish, resisting pressure while climbing to fourth overall. The back-to-back victories not only affirmed his command in the Am standings but also highlighted the Maserati GT2’s reliability and competitive edge.
Dinamic Motorsport Clinches Pro-Am Podium
Dinamic Motorsport’s number 7 Maserati GT2, shared by Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini, delivered a gritty and ultimately rewarding performance in Sunday’s race. After a tough outing on Saturday that saw Pampanini slip to tenth following an off-track excursion, the duo bounced back in style.
Starting fifth on the grid, Calamia swiftly climbed to fourth, defending his position with precision. A smooth pit transition and a strategic pit lane mishap from rivals elevated Pampanini to second place in class and overall – a result he maintained until the finish line. Their runner-up finish in the Pro-Am Cup underscored Maserati’s depth across categories and its strong showing against an increasingly competitive field.
Rising Talent and Long-Term Vision
Beyond the race results, the weekend saw Maserati reaffirm its commitment to the future of motorsport. Sixteen-year-old Niccolò Pirri – son of Luca Pirri, who piloted the Maserati GT2 to its debut podium at Paul Ricard in 2024 – took part in the pre-race trials, becoming the youngest driver ever to test a Maserati on track. His presence reflected the Trident brand’s strategic alignment with the newly launched SRO GT Academy, which aims to develop emerging talent. The Academy’s flagship promise: a fully funded seat in the 2027 GT World Challenge Europe for the top under-30 performer of the 2026 season.

A Livery Steeped in History
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere at Misano, Maserati unveiled a bespoke livery for its MCXtrema Leading Car, paying homage to the 20th anniversary of the legendary MC12’s first victory at the 24 Hours of Spa. The same configuration had previously turned heads at Spa-Francorchamps, and at Misano, it served as a visual reminder of Maserati’s enduring legacy in endurance racing.
Looking Ahead to Valencia
The GT2 European Series now heads into its summer break, with the penultimate round scheduled for 19–21 September in Valencia, Spain. With momentum on their side, Maserati’s drivers and teams are well-positioned to close the season on a high.
A Weekend of Victory and Reflection
Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse, summed up the emotional resonance of the weekend:
“Winning this weekend at Misano is even more important for us. We dedicate our pride to Claudio Bortoletto – a fundamental member of our team and a historic figure in Italian motorsport. This double victory by Philippe Prette, and the strong showing by Calamia and Pampanini, represent not just technical excellence but also the human heart behind Maserati’s return to racing glory.”
As Maserati gears up for its centenary celebration in motorsport, its performance at Misano offers a powerful glimpse into a future shaped by passion, performance, and purpose.
