The House of the Trident sharpens its motorsport focus with dual on-track roles at the season’s most competitive GT racing series.
Modena, 11 April 2025 – Maserati has announced a bold new chapter in its racing legacy, confirming it will supply both the official Safety Car and Leading Car throughout the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. The partnership, forged with SRO Motorsports Group, places two of Maserati’s most advanced machines at the heart of this prestigious series: the track-inspired GT2 Stradale as Safety Car, and the ultra-refined MC20 as Leading Car.
This weekend’s season-opening Endurance Cup race at Circuit Paul Ricard marks the first official appearance for Maserati in its new capacity, with the GT2 Stradale and MC20 ready to set the tone for a year of adrenaline-fuelled action across Europe’s most iconic circuits.
A Pair of Powerhouses
Leading the field with style and authority, the GT2 Stradale—derived directly from Maserati’s victorious GT2 race car—represents the pinnacle of the brand’s performance engineering. Equipped with the fierce Nettuno twin-turbo V6, the road-legal GT2 Stradale accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 324 km/h. Draped in a purposeful Nero Pastello finish, it combines function with formidable aesthetics, ensuring safety at speed with undeniable Italian flair.
Complementing it is the Maserati MC20, selected as the series’ official Leading Car. With its featherlight construction, eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and clean, wind-honed aerodynamics, the MC20 is an elegant yet fierce pace-setter. It wears a Bianco Pastello exterior, serving as a dynamic contrast to its Safety Car sibling and reaffirming Maserati’s commitment to high-performance design on both road and track.

A Legacy Rekindled
This new partnership deepens the historical connection between Maserati and international GT competition. The Trident’s motorsport pedigree is well-established, from the all-conquering MC12 of the GT1 era to the brand’s modern resurgence with the GT2, which returned Maserati to the international stage with immediate impact in the GT2 European Series.
Maserati’s involvement won’t be limited to regulatory duties. The brand will also compete in the GT2 Europe field this season, fielding cars in both the Pro-Am and Am classes, demonstrating its dual commitment to performance and progression.
“We’re roaring into our first role as official Safety Car and Leading Car throughout the 2025 season,” said Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse. “From the road to the track and back again—this is our story. Going from GT2 racing to its road version was a natural step to embody our brand’s performance DNA. We are proud to offer SRO vehicles that stand out not just for their technology and speed, but for a driving experience that is unmistakably Maserati.”
Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, echoed the sentiment: “Maserati is a name that resonates deeply in motorsport circles. From the legendary MC12 to today’s GT2, their engineering excellence is undeniable. We’re thrilled to welcome Maserati in this expanded role and confident that the GT2 Stradale and MC20 will perform flawlessly throughout the season.”
