The roar of engines returns to Tuscany as the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello hosts the Maserati GT2 for its first endurance race at the 12H Mugello, running from 20 to 22 March in round one of the Michelin 24H SERIES Europe. This series of endurance challenges spans Europe’s most iconic circuits, with a Middle East leg adding international flavor, and sees prestigious brands battle for supremacy on track.
2026 is a milestone year for Maserati, celebrating 100 years since the first car bore the Trident emblem in competition. It all began in 1926 with the Maserati Tipo 26 at the Targa Florio, where the marque secured a class victory, and the GT2 now carries that legacy forward in the modern era of endurance racing.
At Mugello, the Dinamic Motorsport Team will pilot the GT2, fielding the proven duo of Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini, joined by Amedeo Pampanini. Calamia and Roberto were central figures in Maserati’s 2025 campaign in the GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli, finishing third in the drivers’ standings with three poles, three victories, four second-place finishes, and three podiums. Their partnership has roots in 2024, highlighted by a win in Barcelona.
The team will compete in the GTX class, tackling a split-format race: qualifiers on Friday 20 March, followed by the first part on Saturday from 12:10 to 17:40, with the second part resuming Sunday from 12:00 to 18:30. Maserati’s return to Mugello evokes memories of the legendary MC12 in the FIA GT Championship of the 2000s, while more recent editions of the track have hosted the Trofeo Maserati, where Calamia clinched the 2014 title.
The Maserati GT2 has progressively expanded its horizons, entering the GT2 championship in 2023 and the Ultimate Cup Series in 2024. With the latest upgrade kit, the car is now fully equipped for endurance competition, capable of competing in more than 20 series and over 170 races per year. The 12H Mugello is not just a race—it is a celebration of Maserati’s heritage, performance, and the Trident’s unwavering pursuit of excellence.
