As the 40th historic re-enactment of the legendary 1000 Miglia commences, Maserati takes the spotlight once again – bridging a century of automotive passion with a future shaped by innovation and electrification.
Modena, 12 June 2025 – Against the romantic backdrop of Italy’s countryside, where cobbled lanes give way to sweeping vistas, Maserati embarks on a symbolic journey – one that celebrates its storied past and electrifies its path forward. The Trident marque returns to the 1000 Miglia for its 40th historical re-enactment, marking another significant chapter in the Year of the Trident, a global celebration of Maserati’s enduring heritage and future ambitions.
This year, Maserati’s tribute to its legacy is headlined by the return of an icon: the A6 GCS/53, a car that carved its name into the annals of motorsport history. Revered for its elegant curves and competition pedigree, this masterpiece of mid-century engineering once roared down the 1000 Miglia route in the original speed race era (1927–1957), piloted by the likes of Luigi Musso. Seventy years on, it takes to the same roads once more – not merely as a museum piece, but as a living, breathing symbol of the brand’s unrelenting spirit.
Chassis No. 2043 – believed to be the most frequently raced Maserati in 1000 Miglia history – makes its return under the stewardship of Maserati Classiche, the brand’s official heritage programme. Currently undergoing the meticulous Certification of Authenticity process, the car is being honoured for its unique competitive history and groundbreaking engineering: from its “Superquadro” twin-ignition engine to its twin overhead camshafts and race-bred geartrain.
Legacy Meets the Present
While the A6 GCS/53 rekindles memories of a golden age, Maserati is equally invested in showcasing its contemporary excellence. Supporting the event are three current production models – the GranCabrio 490, GranTurismo Trofeo, and Grecale Trofeo – each adorned in bespoke liveries that pay homage to the evolution of the Trident logo, first sketched in 1925 and now a global symbol of Italian performance and craftsmanship.
These models underscore Maserati’s ongoing transformation – balancing elegance, dynamism, and cutting-edge engineering. The GranTurismo and GranCabrio, grand tourers in the purest sense, blend performance with refinement, while the Grecale Trofeo delivers thrilling SUV agility with unmistakable Maserati style.

Racing into Tomorrow
In a fitting nod to Maserati’s commitment to the future, the 1000 Miglia Green category welcomes back the GranCabrio Folgore, developed in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano’s AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Driving Autonomous) group. Having already demonstrated its prowess in autonomous mode over a 300-km stretch in 2024, this fully electric marvel redefines what it means to compete – no longer bound by convention, but propelled by curiosity and cutting-edge AI research.
It’s a powerful juxtaposition: a car that once led the charge in Italy’s most prestigious race now shares the stage with an autonomous electric tourer bearing the same Trident emblem – the past and future harmoniously coexisting under the Italian sun.
Preserving the Soul of Maserati
At the heart of Maserati’s presence in this year’s event is its Classiche programme – a dedicated division tasked with preserving the integrity of the marque’s automotive treasures. With a focus on authentication, restoration, and parts reproduction, Maserati Classiche offers collectors and enthusiasts a rare opportunity to maintain their vehicles in line with original specifications, combining artisanal techniques with modern technology.
From the earliest Tipo 26 that won its class at the 1926 Targa Florio to the MC20 Cielo that channels Formula 1 technology into a road-going form, Maserati’s history is not merely celebrated – it is nurtured and carried forward with the reverence it deserves.
A Century in the Making
The 2025 1000 Miglia is more than a race – it is a canvas on which Maserati paints its legacy. Over 1,900 km of Italian roadways, from the starting flag in Brescia to the closing celebrations, the Trident will shine not only through metal and horsepower but through the enduring stories it carries. With over 400 classic cars from 29 nations participating, this year’s route – inspired by the original figure-of-eight layout – becomes a rolling tribute to the evolution of performance, design, and passion.
Maserati’s presence at this milestone event serves as a masterclass in brand storytelling: where every curve in the road whispers of victories past, and every engine note echoes a promise of what’s to come.
As the Trident approaches its centenary in racing, its message is clear – Maserati isn’t just looking back. It’s racing forward.
